Good Found Footage Films. Have I Missed Any?

I love the genre, despite it being filled with mostly crap. No idea why, but the mood, execution and general vibe of Found Footage (generally horror) just does it for me on so many levels.

Some examples of films I've enjoyed (to greater or lesser extents) recently:
- The Bay.
- The Borderlands. (don't miss this one)
- Frankenstein's Army.
- Grave Encounters 1 and 2.
- Blair Witch Project.
- The Taking Of Deborah Logan.
- The Exorcism Of Emily Rose.
- Willow Creek.
- Exists. (fairly meh)
- Unaware.
- Devils Pass.
- Hollow (holy crap this one was good)
- The Tunnel.
- Cloverfield.
- Welcome to the Jungle (another gem)

Not mentioning the really bad ones.

Aside from these, are there any good found footage flicks that I've missed? Preferably horror.
I generally don't enjoy serial killer stuff, especially involving torture. I do like monsters, ghosts and gore however :D.

[REC] and [REC]2

They are in Spanish but with english subtitles but it's a great and gripping Horror flick. No, Quarantine is something I would not advise as it's just the crappy American shot for shot version of REC.

Very much agreed.

'Lake Mungo' is one I'd recommend. It's a fairly standard drama mystery but holy shit does it have one hell of a pay off at the end.

Chronicle (not horror but it's the best found footage movie I've seen):

A lot of people have mentioned the Spanish [REC] movies. The first two are very good. Third and fourth movies are mixed bags - both ditch the found footage aesthetic and go for very different approaches. The third movie is a silly black comedy, the fourth is your standard issue horror movie.

I don't know how the American remakes (Quaraintine) fare, but apparently they're not very good. At least not as good.

If you're a found footage fan you should definitely check out Cannibal Holocaust, which is kind of the progenitor of found footage horror. It's an Italian exploitation movie (don't worry, it's dubbed to English), with lots of blood and gore (including some real-life animal cruelty, which I find disgusting). The acting is of course subpar, but generally the film has aged quite well. It has that raunchy quality to it. It's not a good movie, but if you're interested in the genre it will definitely appeal to you.

Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County

Story about a family on a farm who get together for thanks giving, something odd occurs, the men go off to see what's wrong, discover an alien spacecraft and aliens cutting holes in their livestock with lasers. The aliens and the men find themselves making eye to eye contact, the men freak out, run back to the house to lock all doors and windows, and the aliens follow them back to their home.

Seconded for Lake Mungo. Won't say any more.

Some other ones that nobody here has probably watched, which I thought were worth a mention:

Home Movie [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1267319/] - 2008 - worth watching once
Exhibit A [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0972555/?ref_=tt_rec_tti] - 2007 - not a horror movie

Not really movies strictly speaking but if you haven't seen Marble Hornets or Tribe Twelve on youtube then you need to go on an archive binge. Assuming of course that you aren't sick of Slenderman.

I quite liked the American Quarantine.

I'll second chronicle, if it counts. they do technically use cheats in the story to justify breaking the found footage illusion, such as two people with cameras, and the characters using their powers to hold the cameras steady, but I'm willing to suspend a little disbelief if it means I can watch the movie without getting vertigo. XD

Other than that... hmm... can't really think of any. I don't much like the genre. the visual style is unique, but it's hard to get invested in a story when you already know the ending going in. the title of the genre is "found footage", after all, not "footage submitted for documentary."

Seen Trollhunter (loved it) and Chronicle (can take it or leave it) but not exactly Horror ^_^.

Lake Mungo looks...really interesting. Must try to track down a copy.

Sigh, quite a few of the found footage film I'm looking for seem to not exist anymore, or are only resold at disgustingly high prices.

I might get some stick for this but I thought Apollo 18 was a pretty good film. [Rec] is good but the main actress over does it a bit with her screams, by the end I just wanted her to die.

Cannibal Holocaust.

A lot of people seem to rag on it, but I always thought it was a pretty good film. Very dark and filthy, but you kinda get that with found footage horror anyway. I never saw the sequel, so I can't tell you what that's like, but the original Cannibal Holocaust? I liked it.

I'm suprised no-ones mentioned it, and it isnt a horror movie but End of Watch is a great cop movie done in found footage style with a few cheats here and there but it's definitel yone of my favourite movies.
