I've got a lot of free time this summer and I'm wondering, are there any good FPS/RPGs out there?

I currently enjoy Fallout 3 and MAG; so if you know of games that are remotely similar could you please just post them up here?

Bioshock is a personal love of mine but I haven't played Fallout so I'm not sure how you'd like it. Sorry.

Borderlands matches what you would like.
Indeed.
Borderlands is the spot on choice for this, although I'd recommend getting some friends to play with you, as it is much more fun with more people.

Deus Ex and System Shock series. Also Alpha Protocol is quite good, if not balanced very well.

I'd put a caveat on Borderlands though, I only found it enjoyable when I had friends to play it with me, single player is weak.

But surprisingly not terrible alone. I played through twice alone before hopping online.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 have both RPG and FPS features so you get the best of both!

Aren't both Mass Effects third person shooters?

OT: Go with Borderlands as stated before this game as fun as hell if you have a full 4 member group with you.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R, whilst it's not tooheavy on the RPG front (not too many stats etc, mostly just items affecting you in different ways), the gameplay and atmosphere makes up for it, its a great game, I strongly recommend you try it.

This topic needs more Deus Ex love.

You can specialize in guns in Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines.

I really, REALLY liked Metro 2033 on PC. Excellent game. Not exactly an RPG in terms of no stats or equipment, but you can buy or find upgraded weapons. It's a great experience tho.

Also STALKER: Call of Pripyat is pretty good. Graphically it's not super amazing but it's a good game. A little more RPG than Metro as you can buy equipment and weapon upgrades, do quests, chat with people and choose your sentences.

(Looks up) Oh, uh... what Furburt said.

Opps, you're right McFuzzers, I'm always forget that FPS don't include 3rd person shooters,

OP: forget Mass Effect then if it's specifically an FPS you want!

Try Hellgate: London.....bwahahahahaha, sorry, I can't even mention that game with a straight face.
If you're willing to go back and play some oldies, I can't recommend System Shock enough.
Deus Ex is very good too, and I'm actually giving it a playthrough right now because I never finished it.
They're old, and have some elements that might feel a bit clunky by todays standards, but you'll be amazed at the depth of gameplay and big ideas that even modern games can't seem to match.
