Good Games as gifts

So its the end of October and my overzealous grandparents have started their Christmas shopping and I would like to know if there are any good games already out or should I just get gift cards and have some people recommend games! So any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you own a PS3, the Eyepet looks quite good. If not, well I'm out of ideas.
