I got that a few months back.
Best £60 I ever spent.

As for obscure good games, how about the Animaniacs game on the Mega Drive? That was a solid good platformer by Konami that actually followed the show damn well.

I remember that game...I could never quite figure it out, but one of my friends insisted that it was simple...

Oh wow, I completely forgot about Dwarf Fortress, I may have to go back and play it after this. Its free and insanely deep. Find the wiki, find a graphics pack, then find the actual game.
Do you have a link to a graphics pack? =P
I'm a bit lazy right now.

Aaaaaand...Umm...Wow, so much of my stuff is mainstream, I wish I had an indie-underground website or whatever that gave me awesome indie games...
I'll go with Cave Story. Find the game, find the translation pack, play, ???, profit.

And Shadow Warrior. A spiritual sequel to Duke Nukem 3D. You can find it on most Abandonware sites, I'm sure.

A game where in which you play as the leader of ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD
and you make decisions that a leader would
really fun, but if you don't like politics, then its not for you

(SNES) Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a definitely an overlooked game.

Wish it would make a comeback or at least modded with Left 4 Dead.

I would have to say Harvest Moon, the one on the Game Boy Advance, I think it was A Beautiful Life, the game play was incredibly immersive, I was caring about these girls, and even with the repetitve dialouge, I found myself addicted to the game.

You know that the same game designers have made a game called Necrovision. I recommend it if you like Painkiller.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_Prince_II

holistic design's merchant prince was excellent. insanely replayable.

but holistic's best work (in scope, maybe not so much in execution) was:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_of_the_Fading_Suns
http://www.kborek.cz/forum/phpBB2/

emperor of the fading suns: which is still one of my favorite games to play. the problems with the AI were (to a great extent) modded out by fans over the years. if you can ever find a copy, and you like turn based war / politics / strategy / science games, check it out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascendancy_(computer_game)

ascendancy was better than master of orion once they actually put an AI into the game. ;) by the time they did, it was already in bargain bins and had been basically trashed by reviewers the world over.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_Point:_Road_to_Hell

xenus / boiling point: road to hell, was another post-patch keeper. when it was released it barely ran. but under the bugs was an open-world FPS with very interesting (and pretty complex) role-playing elements. imagine stalker but in a chauvinist, 80's action-movie version of a south american banana republic.

you roam around doing missions for the military, the junta, the indians, the narco-thugs, etc, all while unraveling one of the most hilariously over-the top plots i've ever come across this side of a duke nukem game. the graphics were amazing for what they attempted to do (open map, no loading screens, free movement from the start). after the patches (it REALLY needed them) it played really well. i think atari still has the rights to it in north america.

Aw, I played that. That was great. Unfortunately, I only rented it, so I didn't get too far..

I agree that it is a fun game, and quite beautiful as well.
