Well, you're going to have to accept that in the end your new favorite genre is notorious for its 'Go f*** yourself' difficulty scale.

The Might & Magic series are all a ton of fun and will all make your quick load finger blister.

Mount & Blade is a kinda rts/rpg...its pretty good though from looks of it you'll need to checkout the mods made for the game to get a more RPG heavy experience from it.

I've always loved Neverwinter Nights (original and 2), mainly for my love of 3.5 D&D. Other than that, Morrowind/Oblivion is good. If you want a good old-fashioned dungeon crawl, I'd suggest picking up an old copy of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. Then again, if you like your free-roaming worlds, the original Baldur's Gate was great, albeit pretty outdated in terms of graphics today. Then there's always Fable 2.

Of course, you could always go out and start learning D&D. It's one of the best RPGs around. I'd suggest buying the old 3.5 rules, but 4E is much more simple. Your choice.

EDIT: Also, search for Thy Dungeonman.

Dungeon Keeper was a fun oneRPG , and if you are into MMORPG's you might want to try something like Runescape.

You've already played Oblivion---try Morrowind, it's like Oblivion but a much crisper gameplay experience and no immersion-breaking Uncanny Valley stuff. Game of the Year edition's still sold at retail, only $20.

EDIT: Also, search for Thy Dungeonman.

Apparently it was a load-bearing flask.

If you really want to get old-school, chase down a copy of Daggerfall on an abandonware site and get it to run in DOSBox. There are old DOS diehards who thought Morrowind was dumbed down.

Just buy the whole Elder Scrolls series. Your best bet if you liked Oblivion. Don't know if you consider action RPGs like Diablo as "medievil RPGs" but its still damn good.

I personaly loved Arx Fatalis. It's a First Person Elder Scroll-esque RPG with more focus on the action part. Very good story, gameplay and a very intriguing spell casting system. It surely deserved better on the sales department, it was just an unlucky fact that the release date coincided with that of Morrowind..

Baldurs Gate is a fantasy RPG but you might find it about to heavy on the Fantasy and the Role Playing. Great game even though it is old. You can get it cheap though so you had might as well go and get it.

As has been pointed out:

Mount and Blade. The 'regular' standard setting is ... you, in a fictional medieval styled world with NO fantasy elements. No elves, no magic, no swords that shoot lasers or the ability to create forcefields, or summon zombies.

But that's not even the good part.. nooo no no. The mod section is the good part. The "final" patch has been released a few weeks ago and all (active) mods are currently being updated to the latest version. There are a couple up to date right now, but keep checking every week or so.

In fact, when I get home, I'm gonna kill some more vikings. Have my horsies trample all over them in an awzum 300vs300 battle.

Baldur's Gate is the reply I should actually have macro'd.
Besides that, you might wanna try Divine Divinity, it's a fantasy rpg, but the medieval feeling really came forwards the most, I really loved that about it.

Amen to that. Baldur's Gate is easily my favourite RPG series ever, and right near the top of the list for favourite games of all time. I continuously play them, over and over.

Also, if you're looking for something a little lighter on story and more emphasis on combat and exploration and leveling, then I'd also suggest either of the Icewind Dale games. Same vein as Baldur's Gate, and a lot of fun to play.

Two Worlds I and Two Worlds II were awesome games (Although they didn't get much recognition for anything)
Umm.. as have been mentioned about million times, Mount and blade is great.

The elder scrolls could also be the thing for you, personally it's a meh.
