After searching around this place for the week I've been here, I've noticed one thing: You all seem to find alot of games Un-repetitive.

Now, I want to know what games you do find repetitive. (Not counting MMORPGs, we all know that.)

My bet is any game with a "Wave" mode, with the exception of Timesplitters, but that was awesome because you only had boxes to kill them with. Heh. Eat cardboard!

Far Cry 2: barely any variaty in the missions, when I entered Act 2 I just gave up out of boredom.
Assassin's Creed: same as above.
GTA4: same as above.
The Settlers Rise of an Empire: same as above.

Read a couple of my posts and you'll know my answer:
No More Heroes. No other game has (as part of its grinding) a grass cutting minigame.

The tedium of that game (combined with every critic overrating it) made me start renting again.

Some of those old RPGs however were notorious for not letting you continue without grinding through a few level-ups.

Assassin's Creed got repetitive, but was still fun, and is still one of my favorite games of this generation.

Surprisingly, Final Fantasy X did not get very repetitive, except in a few of the longer dungeons. Most of the "grinding" I ended up doing was incidental, as I was trying to do things like collect the celestial weapons, capture monsters for the arena, get all the summons, etc...it just so happened that I ran into a lot of battles along the way.

as much as i love the immersion (and the graphics) of far cry 2, the repetition of its forced rambo gameplay is really painful.

its like ubisoft created a sneak and snipe game from the ground up and months before release decided a run and gun game would sell better.

everything about the engine seems built for attacking from cover (and distance), setting ambushes, using silenced weapons, sneaking past guards and patrols... (i find it strange that a game built to showcase a new engine's ability to run "one huge, open and seamless" map without level changers or load points is actually full of impassable terrain, choke points, narrow canyons, and level design that feels suspiciously like an on-rails corridor shooter)

the game should have been full of roaming patrols, convoys actually going from points A to B, spawns of AI that surprise you with smaller and larger numbers of men, having to pay attention to the (gorgeous) landscape and figure out how to use it to your advantage against the AI squads and the constant need for the player to determine the friend or foe status of NPCs on the horizon.

instead the game devolves to a lurching grind of stop, start, stop, start gameplay where you assault a guard post, kill everyone, heal up, walk up the road and assault a guard post, kill everyone...

*glares at WoW*

World of Warcraft taught me what grinding is in every possible form.

I learned after a free month of play that grinders are not my forte.

Nothing really... my boundaries of repetetive nature are endless.

Hell, I still play bejeweled in msn games just when I need something to do with my hands. (I'm arty, always need something to do, be it snapping fingers, playing games, doodling or making small robots out of my stationary.

I actually like grind quite a bit - its random variety that pisses me off

I like to play Tower Defences on my Ipod/internet/Warcraft3 because its a grind with more than point and click - its think point think and click :D

Edit: sorry forgot to finish my post, I'm so tired

games like Spore are quite the grind so then The Sims is but we all knew that
nearly all FPS' are grindtastic and then theres
MMORPGS

No, it's not. You're mistaken.

Leveling pokémon is fun. Do it more often.

You know the worst grind in pokemon ever? Hatching 80+ Staryu eggs and still not getting a Modest nature. I just gave up about 5 minutes ago...All that biking...up and down...up and down...the pedometer had to reset more than twice!!!

I counter your claim with this: Adamant Ralts...with Synchronize instead of Trace. It also had to be Male.
