If you don't mind old rpg's, then I gotta recommend Planescape Torment. A friend lent it to me, and once you get past the graphics, the story and role-playing will slap you in the face. The combat is Diablo-esque, so it isn't turn-based.

Another oldie, but a goldie is Deus-Ex. Two words. Holy. Shit.

ive played the 2nd black and white and fallout 3 and STALKER Clear sky. and while i do find them fun i just seem to of done pretty much everything there is to do, this was especially noteable in mass effect 1 where after my first playthough id done seemingly all the side missions except the mineral collection one

Damnit, someone beat me to it. So, who's going to go reinstall it?

For my own recommendations:

Baldur's Gate 1-2
The Witcher

Games that are non-linear but don't have an alignment system:
Dragon Age: Origins
You can be pretty damned evil in Dragon Age, and it sounds like that's all he's looking for. It's made by BioWare(makers of KOTOR, Mass Effect, NWN, Baldur's Gate, etc.) and is a very solid RPG with tons of replayability.

They just released more DLC for it today with Leliana's Song. I'm downloading it as I write...
