I think I'm supposed to point out how ninjas are better than pirates, then recommend something like Ninja Gaiden.

Edit: Apologies, that wasn't helpful, it's just a reflex.
Well you've already mentioned Sid Meier's Pirates, so what about the Monkey Island series?

Sid's Pirates! is the best I've played. It's fun, simple, and awesome.

Pull the other one!

Try the Flash game Puzzle Pirate that's crazy fun.
Oh and if you can, get the Monkey Island games. They're brilliant. But they can sell for a lot on eBay. Not sure if there's a download on internet somewhere though.

Zack & Wiki, Monkey Island and Skies of Arcadia are all good games with a pirate theme. Not many games have actual piracy simulation gameplay but Mount & Blade is like Sid Meier's Pirates in some ways and is an excellent game.

It's a limited field, alas. If you're willing to put up with some bugs and a lack of polish, there is actually a very good Pirates of the Caribbean game. It's not based on any of the movies directly, only being linked by the presence of the Black Pearl. Decent story, and more realistic fighting/sailing than Sid's - different pistols have different power/reload, swords damage/speed/defense, ships of the same chassis have different stats depending who made it - English are faster, Spanish bigger cargo hold, etc. You can also change the size of the guns on your ship. It's deeper, if narrower than Sid's.

Just called "Pirates Of The Caribbean" cover art is as so:

I think the first two are abandonware now. They are very easy to find regardless.

Sweet. I'm happy I still have my beautiful CD Copies, although original stuff can go for $100+ on the net.

A very old PC game called Elder Scrolls Redguard where you play a pirate. In fact the Pirates of the Pirates Of The Caribbean game mentioned earlier was suppose to be it's sequel but was rebranded for the movie tie-in.

Thirded, never played the remake on the gamecube, but it was probably the JRPG I enjoyed the most, took a LONG time for something better to come along...
