So I am going to buy a PC game, and I want it to be an RPG. Now I have already played Oblivion and Fallout 3 on the Xbox, so those 2 are out. But does anyone know any others out there that are good/better than others.

If you want really good ones, you could try DOSbox and older games, such as
Burntime,
Conan The Cimmerian (Only Conan-related thing I ever liked.),
Moonstone: A hard day's Knight. (It's very, very, very fun.)
And
Some of the Earlier ultimas and ultima underworld.

That's the best I can come up with.

Check out stuff from BioWare.

Mass Effect was great.

Both Knights of the Old Republic were epic.

Jade Empire was engaging.

If you haven't already you should play the original Fallout games, fantastic games.
Edit:Morrowind, how did I forget about Morrowind?

Morrowind (if you can get past the graphics the game is much better than Oblivion)
Balders gate 1&2 (greatest rpg's of their time)
Planescape Torment (if you can get used to the odd interface this is great amusing and slightly to the dark side lol)
DDO (soz but I really do feel this is a great game in its own right but also an awsome mmo)
KOTOR (awesome game made better by being starwars (I'm a geek I know lol))

Lol with a game that good you can afford to be. Should of put that in my list (runs off and hides in corner due to overwelming amounts of shame)

If you're looking for a newer game, as in one in retail stores right now, The Witcher.

If you don't mind backtracking a little bit, searching on-line or possibly bargain-bins, either of the Knights of the Old Republic games, Morowind, Neverwinter Nights, or Baldur's Gate 2 are good choices.

If you prefer something more 'actiony', Sacred 2 isn't a bad choice till Diablo 3 comes out.

For best RPGs though you'll need to dig much, much deeper. Torment, Fallout 1&2, and any of the Baldur's Gate clones come readily to mind.

Personally, I prefer a lot of the non-Windows based games like most the Wizardry and Might & Magic series. But those would be a LOT harder to find and get to work.

This. A hundred thousand times, this. Make sure you get the "Enhanced Edition." There is a demo floating about on the Internet, and it was more than enough to convince me to buy the game, but keep in mind that the demo is of the original game, not the enhanced edition. The biggest change is that the load times are much, much shorter in EE.

The Witcher: EE is one of the best games that I've played in the last several years, and I cannot reccommend it enough.

Grandia II and The Last Remnant were pretty fun. Replayed Grandia a bunch of times and still playing TLR.

The Witcher has failed twice to catch my interest. Dialogue was pretty funny and the alchemy and so on was interesting, but I just couldn't be entertained by the combat.

My suggestions are Mass Effect, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Morrowind/Fallout series' and if you're feeling retro, Castle in the Winds(2).

Most of the above but also a little known gem Divine divinity as long as you're patient with the first town as it gives NO indication of how you're supposed to progress you'll find a deep and fun game.
