Hey.
I love steam punk, the aesthetic, the themes, all of it. But is there any good steam punk games or novels? please, recommend and discuss.

Arcanum is the poster child for a "Victorian" steampunk game.

Shadowrun has always seemed to fit for me too. I believe it has many books. Kind of has a weird sci-fi nature to it though. I recommend it either way.

novels:

The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling
The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson (not pure steampunk, more like victorian cyberpunk)

and Alan Campbell's Deepgate Codex has a pretty interesting blend of fantasy, gothic and steampunk elements.

Read just about anything by China Mieville, but particularly Perido Street Station, The Scar, and Iron Council. They are my favorites in the Steam Punk area.

They are very dense reads very detail oriented, but paint fantastic pictures of the world.

Try "Boneshaker" by Cherie Priest or "Whitechapel Gods" by S.M. Peters, and especially the latter. I liked them both.

Also: In looking up the author for Whitechapel Gods I found out he wrote another book! So now it's on its way to MY HOUSE! WHEEEEEEE!

I love books :3
