I'd like to find a game I can play online with my friend that isn't a shooter or a strategy game and doesn't have a monthly fee. I was thinking of Neverwnter Nights. Good? Bad? Other suggestions? Also my computer isn't exactly top of the line. Its exact limit is just below left 4 dead. Also an emphisis on co-op. If we wanna kill each other we cvan play half-life 2

If you like RTS's try warcraft3 or if you like dungeon crawlers try diablo2, I have only had a brief stint on neverwinter nights but from what I've played it pales in comparison to those to games which are by the way free.

EDIT: i noticed the hate on strategy games so just go with diablo2 its mounds better than neverwinter nights.

Neverwinter Nights does have a pretty robust online system...

Are you looking specifically for an RPG? If not, Warcraft III has an inexhaustible supply of custom games online if you get tired of the standard game.

NWN has a large number of pretty good persistant world servers. Only thing is, the better ones require the very latest version of the CEP, which is a big-ass download however you look at it.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory has a damn fine co-op mode, or is that classed as a shooter?

Yep! Keyboard & Mouse. It's a little complicated at first but you quickly get the hang of it. There's a lot more thought involved than your regular shooter. Plus it should be dirt cheap now.

I haven't played it myself, but I've heard Guild wars is a nice little MMO that does not have any subscriptions.

I'll also add my votes to NWN and Diablo 2, though I think both are a little past their prime.

Guild Wars certainly is a good MMO. Although with Guild Wars 2 on the way, a lot of people have pretty much stopped playing it, so you may be joining the party a little late :( I need to revisit it soon.

UT2004, Invasion mode is pretty cool. Might want more than two people but it's certainly possible with two. The Rainbow Six and SWAT series might also have co-op capability (I know R6V and R6V2 both have co-op campaign, dunno about any others).

Oh, and the Ghost Recon series.

I just noticed you didn't want shooters. Sorry!
