Google Chrome won't play Youtube videos for me anymore.

They work when they're embedded on Facebook or whatever.
They work when they're those VEVO videos.
But they don't work when they're the old-fashioned kind of videos on Youtube.com.

Maybe I should better-define "don't work."
By don't work, I mean that the video is totally black and doesn't play.
It's just a black rectangular box where a Youtube video should be.

Chrome was working yesterday. Yesterday, I was so happy with Chrome.
Now it's not working, and I'm really upset, because I was really pleased with how Chrome and I were getting along.

Help me?

-_-

Little amped up aren't we?

Add &fmt=18 at the end of the address bar, or play in a higher or lower quality.

Youtube ain't old fashioned. Dang whippersnappers.

If I re-install, will I lose the highly-organized armada of bookmarks that I've compiled over the months?
Export.

That, or even better: Sync with a Google account, and you never have to worry about them getting lost.

That's pretty funny. Of all the services to fail on Google's browser, it happens to be one of their own.

Have you any adblock or noscript extensions?
They will affect your youtube videos, try disabling them.
your lack of Chrome knowledge is disturbing.

Is Youtube working for any of you guys at the moment? (not embedded players or that VEVO stuff; I'm talking the non-embedded, non-VEVO, non-channel-based Youtube videos)

I might actually use chrome if it started sleeping with me for money.

Especially if it did all those wonderful things that usually get girls labeled "dirty."

Yes it is fine, your problem seems to be between your keyboard and chair.
Good day sir.

My school just had a string of power-outages. Do you think this might have something to do with it?
No, it would not.
You are not using your own computer?
Then there are most likely script blocks/webfilter blocking your youtube viewing, learn how to use web proxies to bypass filtering and such.

Also taken by your posts you're not too tech savvy?

Install Firefox ASAP
Chrome seems to be getting shittier and shittier per update.
The more you use chrome the shittier it gets
And the power outages are the reason for the web browser to get corrupt

Chrome is a fine browser, Firefox has gotten such a good rep because of the great user made content.

*shrug* I can't help you, but if you export your bookmarks and re-install that might help. Personally I've never had a problem with Chrome, and the updates haven't made it any worse in my eyes. It seems perfect to me ;P

Whiny kid is whiny. Did you at least try to troubleshoot or just do a general google search before posting a passive aggressive thread on a gaming website's forum ?

So yeah troubleshoot first if nothing helps reinstall Chrome or just get Mozilla.

What a coincidence. My Firefox is being an unsavory pimp.

Browsers these days. I blame the Rap Sites.

I blame gaming. All those murder and sex simulators that your Chrome browser has been exposed to by coming to the Escapist site -- it was bound to cause Chrome to have some psychological ticks.

But seriously -- is this your own computer or one at the school? My work computer for example shows only blank boxes for youtube regardless of where it is hosted. For me this is regardless of browser, so you should be able to quickly isolate the problem by trying another browser.

If it works in Firefox then it's either time to switch to Firefox or reinstall Chrome.
