Recently I've been searching the store Michaels a lot, as I've been trying to get a job there. Lately, however I've noticed that suddenly a lot of the cheezburger network pages are showing me Michaels adds everywhere. I found this amusing, as this is the first time Google Adds have been this transparent to me.

So how about you? Had any experience with Google making use of your searches?

Mmmhmm. Google is always watching you because google loves you... you and your soul!

[sub]I get targeted by very specific ads from time to time. Also all the ads for Youtube is fairly local. I wonder why...[/sub]

When you sign up with Google+, it asks you if it can use your information to help tailor what ads you see. I am not really bothered by it. In America you are on camera an average of 7 times a day(triple that in a mall).

I've noticed that too, a few months ago I looked at a couple stock trading websites, and now I get a lot of ads for Etrade. Sometimes I wonder if all the ads are a result of my search history. Why? I once got an ad that said, "What do I smell like to Edward Cullen?"

I have no idea.

Nope. Google is a piece of crap so I uninstalled the browser and use bing now. Microsoft ftw! Even if their main goal is world domination.

Google hasn't bombarded me with ads yet,but then again Google+ isn't big enough to have groups dedicated to my interests therefore I give Google next to nothing in terms of my preferences.

My thoughts exactly.

Google dominates the online advertising industry, and has for quite some time. No matter the browser you use, no matter if you use adblock, Google very likely knows where you (well, your browser, anyway) have been. And if you actually make use of Google services, ho boy...

I see it on Facebook more than Google. You put something in a status and the next page you load is filled with ads related to what you posted. Just the other day I said something about being excited about some of the features Apple will include in iOS 5 and then I kept seeing ads for free iPads, iPhone repair, A deal at Best Buy on Macs, etc.

Yeah I've looked at stuff on newegg or amazon plenty of times only to see an ad for the exact thing I was looking at on the escapist or other sites. It might interest you to know that, assuming you have cookies enabled, you can opt out of it.

Here's a link!

Airsoft stuff, games and more. Don't care, the people that matter I.e secret services and governments have all that data on me anyway. I volunteer the info I do to google because I like how it enhances some of experiences on the net. Some of those adds I've actually clicked and found compelling deals.

I rarely look at ads unless they interrupt my videos but then they make me want things less because of it...anyway I havn't noticed. Though I have noticed that google tracks every single link that you click on from a google search (at least I assume this is why you go through a redirect with every page you click on). What they do with the statistics is anyone's guess, but hopefully it is limited to smart ads.

edit: just cleared my history on the google history page, just in case ;D

Yeah it's always on youtube. I am actually angry, they didn't ask my permission first. I just feel violated. No this is not a joke.

I'm waiting for the cornea scans as I walk down the street selling me specific items on a personal frequency. Advertising is just that evil.

My dad gives me crap all the time about using Google. They record your searches. I don't search anything bad, so I don't care. I still prefer it because it doesn't limit my search based off of what it thinks is best [YAHOO]. I've never once gotten a good search from Yahoo..

I have to on my ignorance shades when it comes to internet ads. Those times I have glanced though, they have been WAY off.
