Right its time for Microsoft to start shitting bricks, the amazing company that is Google is readying an Operating System for release in 2010, I read it in the FT and I can't seem to find any links on the internet. Now thats not to say I'm making this up, I swear on my mothers eyes I read it in something called a newspaper!

A newspaper is like Yahoo News, but on paper as opposed to being on a screen (what madness!).

http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/

oops found a link!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8139711.stm
The name, Google Chrome OS, instead of going for all out glory Google are creating it for low cost netbooks to start with, basically its being marketed towards people who just use the web, which is in line with Googles past stratigery.

This makes sense, I know plenty of people who just have a PC for the web, enter Google in shinning armour on a white steed to save the day! and the wallets of people from the clutches of MS and its licensing agreements!.

I seriously doubt it's going to work. For one thing, Google Chrome OS is simply a windowing system on top of a Linux kernel, which is a good thing, but it's hardly going to displace older Linux variants. Secondly, cloud computing isn't all that people say it is - it's slow and based on technological concepts that are almost fifty years old.
AH AH Rak the undead my old foe!, prepare to be struck by the lightning bolt of common sense young man, prepare TO LIVE! RakTheAlive! haha

Now that the drama is out of the way, while you are more gifted than the common low life scum such as myself, we actually think cloud computing is shit hot, I think penny arcade said it best in a comic strip I can't find right now (buggery!).

The garden variety net user that uses facebook and thats pretty much it, will lap up anything Google throws at them, also isn't Google Chrome the first OS and browser built from the ground up to take advantage of Multicore CPU's? which are now, the norm.

I used to think like that, with Windows 98, no seriously I loved it, it wasn't robust but I liked the speed of the thing... I swear XP is a slow mother.

Yeah you heard right, I thought winblows 98 was the shits!

I don't think it will appeal to anyone who knows a file manager from a spreadsheet, but the combination of thin client and simple interface, all under the benevolent name of Google could hook a lot of the un-savvy types. You know... people in their 50s who want to be able to check e-mail, browse the web, but otherwise be left alone by their computers. My father, in other words.

The cloud concept serves these people well, I think, and of course you couldn't get me to touch it with your mouse, and someone else doing the clicking. I grew up with a command prompt, I pick my teeth with old sticks of SDRAM, and so forth. But the people who are frightened by these concepts- they might go for this. It's the same compulsion which often drives people to use Apple.

I suppose it could be alright, but I think, ultimately, I'll leave my Mac Chrome-free, and my PC can stay with Vista until I bother to either get XP or Windows 7. I don't mind Chrome as a browser, but it's not my favourite, so I guess I'll give Chrome OS a looksee. However, I doubt I'll be picking that as my OS.

Read it this morning too. Sunday Times, InGear?I believe it was that.
Meh. Whatever knocks Microsoft off the pedestal, I guess.
Gates won't be bothered. He can bugger off to an underwater house or space or something. He won't lose anything.
I know I wouldn't mind much.

Heh MS has enough trouble trying to get people to go to a new version of windows. This OS won't do too well at all. People stick to what they are used to.
It is why I am still using XP, I doubt I will even go to Win7 without a bloody good reason and I refuse to touch that shit vista. Be like installing windows ME again *shudders*
Basically unless it is set up just like windows I doubt anyone will touch it.
ermmm the marketing strategy for it is to first power low power and low cost netbooks, it'll have the low end market all to itself, lets face it, the MS OS' are pretty gruesome when it comes to spec needed.

If Google market it right and make sure the "lower" life forms such as people who don't games know about it, they've got it in the bag, and anyone who says google can't hammer that fact home forgets that Google IS THE INTERNET.

This is their playground, you play by their rules, Google OS will be force fed into the facebook and Yahoo email users of the world.

This reminds me of Google video or whatever that was called, I doubt it'll work well, if you want a good operating system for a Netbook, try Linux?

what about people like me, who are stupid and can't grasp Linux and its wonderful err err whatever it has.

I know linux is better, I get it honestly I do, but the filthy consumer whores do not. All those people with dry clean only shirts and ray bans that drive new cars with itchy credit cards to use will lap it up.

They are wrong, yes we know that already, but they will still gorge themselves on anything google throws at them.

Screw Apple, after iTunes deleted all the music I purchased and wouldn't give it back I've started a one man boycott xD.

*gasp* you stick it to the man yet you don't have an iPhone, bypassing Nokia's stranglehold on the mobile phone network with its view that you license out its phones as opposed to owning them outright!, dear lord, purge your sins! confess for entry to iPhone heaven! BE GONE HERETIC!

now that I've got that out of my system, shit dude, why did it delete your entire library?
i use iTunes to put my stuff onto my iPhone, but as for my favourite music player I use ShareAzaa, easily the best player on the market, get this right on your playlists what it does is mix the songs together.

Seriously, so if you have mylo "in my arms" playing with Scroobius Pips "the beat that my heart beats" it will mix the two songs together like a DJ in a club, its outstanding technology, it thinks its a human, isn't that cute?

edit: all ShareAzaa needs to do now to truely emulate a human DJ is have a hissy fit when you dont give it drugs and ***** about how other music players don't know the industry like it does. Yeah that was a ***** about DJ's, tosspots.

Five Reasons Google OS is doomed

I've pulled this from that link.
And to say that Orkut, its social network, is very popular in Brazil and India is to damn it with faint praise.
Brazil and India are the emerging powers of the Internet, Brazil especially since the took the Blog idea and ran with it like madmen, Brazil speaks Portuguese, and 60% of the internet is currently in Portuguese... sorry to say English speakers of the world, but you are a minority.

Also India, a country with a population of 1billion people, 500 million of which are computer graduates. Orkut will succeed to due those facts, not in the English speaking world, but the world does not revolve around English anymore.

Well, it didn't delete my whole library, as anything that wasn't already an .m4a got duplicated up to 4 times (for some reason). But the purchased music wasn't duplicated and was saved straight into iTunes and was all wiped off. I don't even know why, but it pissed me off as a waste of £100+.

And I don't have a Nokia either, I have an LG xD.

Also I'll have to check out ShareAzaa, I was getting bored of unremarkable old Windows Media Player.

I fear this has gotten a little off topic...
