Okay, one of my friends HATES keeping safesearch on. He said it cuts out all cuss words and anything deemend even "slightly bad." He convinced me go to the "no filter" setting on Google. Well, it turns out that google safesearch blocks a SHITTON of porn that is online to. Long story short, I was search pie recipies online because my parents wanted to make a pie, and I was searching on google images so I could see what the pie looked like. I search apple pie:fine, key lime pie: fine, pumpkin pie: okay, Cream pie: porn explodes on my computer. I was just able to ignore the one or two pictures for every 100 with the other search results, but apparently, "Cream Pie" is slang and, well you get the idea(I have no idea why I didn't pick up on this). Anyway, next thing I know, I'm flipping through pages by the tens trying to get away from the porn(MY PARENTS ARE IN THE ROOM) and I eventually give up on making a cream pie(the food) and decide to make something else. Also, I changed my good preferences back and hit my friend upside the head. So my question with this post, is whether or not Google safesearch only blocks porn or not.

Porn on the internet? Gtfo.

It's not hard to change the filter. Just be more observant of who is in the room when searching for cream pie recipes.

What are you 8? Come on, what were you expecting?
I keep mine off. I think I've seen the worst the world has to offer.

Yeah, Safe Search doesn't block everything that happens to have swears. I don't know where your friend came up with that, but he's wrong. At least not on the default setting (Moderate), which to my knowledge only filters Image Search.

Google safesearch blocks anything that would be considered "mature" content. So yeah its mostly porn and some violent stuff.

I always keep it off, since it's interesting to see the words that can lead you to porn.

To my knowledge, I haven't had safesearch on since a Zero Punctuation where Yahtzee said not to look up housewife with safesearch off. I was intrigued with what might come up (though I had a good feeling of what might come up) and I haven't turned it back on since. As it turns out, putting the words bass tab into you search bar with a song name yields little to no porn.

I remember I searched "couch" with safesearch off and the result was interesting. I mean, "couch" for god's sake...

I remember the days before built-in filters came about. Of course, that was before the internet=porn. It was only on isolated sites. A guy I knew in high school used to use the school computers to search for porn because he couldn't do it at home. I can't believe he didn't get busted.

I don't usually use Google, I usually use Ask.com, and was feeling in the mood to be a guilable dumbass. And hey, it makes a good story to tell. And no, I'm not 8, I'm 16, although that still probably doesn't make much of a difference.

I always keep it off. It's hilarious seeing how simple things are associated with porn.

I really feel bad for you man. Maybe you should make it up to your parents by looking up how to give them a facial. I'm afraid that web search tends to not be very helpful, but image search turns up great results. Trust me, a facial will mend all the wounds created by this incident. While you're at it, maybe throw in a Boston Steamer from the store. You can look that one up too if you need a visual reference.

I use it when searching for certain images for incredibly obvious reasons. Otherwise I keep it off since it won't let you access certain TV Tropes articles.

Cant help but feel like you are being a little thick here.

Cream pie.. All it is is whipped cream in a pie crust. You don't exactly need a recipe =P

I hate that SafeSearch. They should rename it Random Censorship.
Somehow it keeps getting itself back at ON again

Also really sucky is "Personal search" or whatever that new option is called.
That one also defaults itself on, and I swear; it mucks up every search I do
It's like that option makes it about 20 times harder to get the results I seek.

Bah! Needless attachments to an already good thing suck!

My schools computer filters the word "NAZI" when you search

That seems really odd to me. And possibly to the students that have to write things about Nazis

I keep mine off, but I'm careful to NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use google images. I've seen Rule 34. I've had my childhood destroyed. I really have no where but up to go from here.

Just remember: Don't google it unless you intend to see it naked.
