I came across this service while reading 2600. Does anyone have an available invite to the service?

For those who don't know it's a service that allows you to tie a bunch of phone numbers to a single number. Users can also use voicemail and some other abilities.

Unfortunately as with all new Google projects the beta is only accessible via invitation.

I don't follow, a bunch of phone numbers tied to one phone number? How does that work?

You tie your mobile, home phone and such to one number. So that it calls them all at the same time, first come first serve with the answering, so that your mobile acts like a home phone and vice versa.

You talk to like 10 people at the same time.
You know, like Skype, but with phones

OT: That. Sounds. Awful.
Why would you want that?
Hmm, surely it would be better to call the number, then go into some sort of automatic menu, where you say who you want to call's name and it automatically calls them.

But you could just, write down their numbers.

Why would you want a gang talk? What ever happened to private messaging, private phone calls on a normal telephone?

I think it sounds pathetic and strange...

Oh, I've never heard of that before...I'm not really sure why it would be extremly helpful, but sounds like it's worth some time looking into

I find it ironic that you could find this via a Google search. http://voice.google.com

I thought that the traditional private phone line was not free. GV is free.

The 2600 article speculated that it would extremely useful for prank calling. However I think it'd be great for privacy-minded people (ex: save your direct cell number for real relationship material and the GV number for possible stalkers) or very small businesses (calls go to all employee cell phones instead of paying for a new line and free voicemail).
