This is gonna be a little rant but bear with me.
I was very happy buying expansion packs for games, in fact if an expansion pack came out for a game like Age of Empires or Morrowind then I would buy that straight away...but then came DLC.
Here's the problem, expansion packs I liked because they actually expanded the game, added more content to the whole experience...now DLC that doesn't do this most of the time, in fact most of the time developers nowadays seem to be making a whole game then selling it off in parts.
You can buy a game now that won't be complete, that you'll then have to spend an extra..well.. at least £12 in most cases on top of the £50 you spent to get the game new, and that's just to get stuff that really SHOULD have been included in the main game because without it you just don't get the full package.
Things like skins and hats are fine, but dlc-ing whole game modes just tick me off. For example I'll say Resistance 3.. my personal goty (alongside Rayman) and one I play all of the time..however since they made the multiplayer Invasion mode dlc (and proceeded to sell it only a month later) no one plays it and it's wasted. If they's put it as standard (as it was on the first two) then it would've been played.
Personally I don't believe it is fair for companies then to complain that they're being screwed over by piracy if they are constantly screwing over their customers by selling half games.
For the record I don't agree with pirating games but I also don't agree with being ripped off by developers.
Seriously does anyone actually think developers doing this is a good idea?
