Got a small problem with an eBay purchase

I ordered a couple of action figures about a week ago, and after asking twice when I can expect them to be dispatched the seller finally got back to me.

He's claiming that there was a miscount and that one of the figures isn't actually in stock. He says he ordered some more and that they'll arrive 'soon' but the trouble is I don't know how soon that actually is.

I've asked him to clarify but at this point I'm not sure what else to do going forward. Should I just wait and see what happens or should I cut my losses, cancel the order and get them from somewhere else?

I would ask exactly how soon 'soon' is. If he doesn't get back to you within a week then raise a dispute with paypal/ebay. 'Soon' isn't an answer, and ebay as a limit on how long you can wait before raising a dispute.

Yeah, I've asked him to give me an estimated time frame for when the item is back in stock. If it's just a day or two then I'm happy to wait but if it ends up being a week or more I'm not sure what to do at that point.

Got a response from him and he said it wouldn't be back in stock for another week :/ I've requested a cancellation and I've ordered them from somebody else.
