So, I just went to my first convention ever, the Tampa Comic-Con. I had a blast, snagged some loot, took tons of pictures, and just generally let my nerd flag fly. I also got to indulge the HELL out of my inner child.

I got to meet Steve Cardenas (the actor who played the second red ranger in Power Rangers), Marc Summers (host of Double Dare and Unwrapped), Jason Faunt (red ranger of Power Rangers Time Force), and Bob Camp (co-creator of Ren and Stimpy).

Pictures of my spoils and sights:

I'll DEFINITELY be going to more conventions in the future.

What about the rest of you? Any good convention stories? Meet anyone interesting? How did you enjoy your first convention?

Well I remember when I met Norman Reedus from the Walking Dead. I was too short for the autograph table and he came around and said hello to me, talked to me, and hugged him when my cousin took a picture. He was so kind.

Recently, I went to a convention where there was a rotten tomatoes panel. I had attended, stood up and talked to the panel. It was a good day for me because i'm going to college for journalism and I want to be a movie journalist. When my boyfriend and I were on the show floor, the fucking head editor of rotten tomatoes stopped me and thanked me for talking, complimented me on my knowledge, and talked to me for like, twenty minutes. I told him what I was going to college for and he even said he thinks i'll have no trouble doing show. He gave me advise and I was about to die. It was amazing. I thanked him on twitter and he even followed me.

I worked (volunteered/staffed) Nan Desu Kan pretty much from the first one up until 2011, so I have *loads* of convention stories... but my favorite one is from StarFest (back when it was called StarCon) in the late 80's.

Chris Claremont was speaking, and after his regular presentation there was a Q&A session. One person asked Mr. Clarement the question "When are you going to stop with all the harping about racism.". Mr. Claremont paused, and said "well," then he paused again, took a sip of water and adjusted his glasses, clearly taking the time to think of an appropriate answer.
Then he said, "Well, I suppose that when there's no more racism to write about, then I'll stop writing about it." I immediately began to applaud. Somewhere on the other side of the room someone else began to applaud. People around us started applauding. Soon the whole room was applauding. I thought "$&#* it, I'm gonna *stand up*!". As I stood up I noticed people on the other side of the room standing up at the same time, and people all around me began to stand up. Soon the whole room was standing and applauding for all we were worth, creating enough noise that convention staff from other areas looked in to see what was going on. From his expression, Mr. Claremont was *very* gratified.

If you'd like to hear some of my stories from working as convention staff, I'd be happy to share.

It was my second Armageddon Expo in Auckland, I had bought and made an Altair costume to cosplay. Everything was going well until I stumbled across the Assassin's Creed: Revelations booth.

I spent a good deal of time there, first talking to the booth supervisors about the AC series, then posing in-front of the backdrops and being doorwarden (the game was rated M so kids and teens without ID couldn't enter). Partway through I admitted I wouldn't be getting Revelations, mainly because I spent most of my discretionary funds on the cosplay and getting to Armageddon so the head of Ubi marketing asked for my address and gave me the AC2 book.

When the Expo ended I headed back home, expecting perhaps a postcard because I already received a nice book for my time front-of-house but what I eventually got was the collectors edition of AC Revelations.

Well the first convention I went to was the MCM Expo in London which I had stay over at my bro place over the weekend. This is also the first time my bro cosplay as Itachi from Naruto. The place was huge, really huge. Also some of the crew from Battlestar Galactica were there which my bro told me one of his mates were acting as an assistant to one of the cast!

Honestly I prefer the current expo I been going, the Manchester MCM Explo mainly cos I find it more memorable. The first time I went (it only started at 1020) I finally meet up with my mate from uni who I haven't seen in years and she got Craig Charles (Lister from Red Dwarf) Autograph and aswell getting this Ryohki (Tenchi Muyo) bagpack, something she has been after for a very long time.

The third time went there is when I cosplay for the first time (Travis Touchdown) which I had a blast and I also met a couple of Excapist members face to face for the first time aswell!

I've never gone to a con cause they are really far away and expensive to get into. But I have been to highland games and ren fairs which are alot of fun to go to. The only story worthy of note is while I was dressed as a wizard I was walking the grounds and I ended up bumping into this performing group who were playing these drucken merc layabouts and they talked with accents and everything it was neet at the same fair I also walked over to the jousting it was jousting apples and the like with spears and maybe a pike or lance it was kinda cool. @little woodsman I would love to hear some stories of your working at cons.

I used to attend the London Film and Comic Con regularly, but I have't been in a couple of years now. It's ok, the stalls are a little lacklustre and none of the talks ever interested me, but the celebrity guests have always been pretty good.

I've met John Hurt, Charles Dance, Richard Briers (RIP), Claudia Black, Peter Davison, Georgia Moffett, Peter Mayhew (he's there every year) and Kenny Baker. The queues are extraordinary, though, and I only got to meet half of the actors by managing to convince the staff to let me join the queue earlier than my allotted time.

The only convention I've gone to is Anime Expo in Los Angeles, and I've gone for the last four years now. Every year has been pretty awesome. My first year it was a bit overwhelming, even though I went in knowing it would be a new experience. As far as meeting people, I've met a few voice actors mainly because my sister knows them which is always cool.

As for funny stories, I have more creepy ones to be honest. XD My first year I went as an Axis Powers Hetalia character, Canada to be exact, my sister being America. At that time, Hetalia fangirls would go nuts over male Hetalia cosplayers. Long story short I had several girls hitting on me, one inviting me to her hotel room, all because of the costume.

The rest of the years have been fun and mostly uneventful, I do intend to keep going ever year and maybe try going to other conventions when I can. It's always a fun experience, even if I usually dislike crowds.

Well, I remember a Youmacon a couple years ago. Linkara was signing autographs, and I had a special gift for him. One More Day.

He threw it on the Ground, glared at me, and stepped on it. Then he said "Sure" and signed it. And then my buddy Josh walked up to him, kicked his Santa Christ robes up, and asked him to sign his thighs. He did with no hesitation.

Fun times.

Here's a pretty funny story. Before I tell you the story, you need to know that Gunnar is a common Swedish first name.

With that said, I was walking to the main convention building, and just as I was about to enter a bunch of people I'd never met, who were sitting on the ground, shouted "Hey, Gunnar!" to me. (That's not my name.) "Your name's Gunnar! Come sit with us, Gunnar!"
I figured that if they all agreed that Gunnar was my name, it probably was. So I sat down and hung out with them for an hour. A good time was had.

I was at Anime Boston 2014 this year and went to a Blue Exorcist panel. They had three guests at the panel who did voices for the show, Kyle Hebert, Patrick Seitz, and Wendee Lee. All three of them are my favorite voice actors. In the middle of the thing they screened a gag reel and the 3 guests went into the audience to watch them, Kyle Hebert ended up sitting next to me. I pretty much had a fanboy moment and nearly fainted. I ended up getting an autograph from him by the end of the panel as well as a picture with him on my old flip phone.
