This isn't so uncommon. Yes, the manic-pixie-dream-girl trope is stupid, but is it worth getting angry about? I think it was just saying that, if you're going through a rough patch, if you stick with it, people may surprise you.

I've known people with real depression, and it's not something they can control. Telling them they have no right to feel that way will only make matters worse, because they'll feel guilty about something they can't control. They probably already feel alienated as it is. Clinical Depression isn't the same as feeling sad. It's a real mental condition in itself, and in my opinion they should give it an entirely different name, because "depression" isn't really an accurate term. It suggests that it's a mood that can be controlled, and it's not. To the above ass-holes who think people should just stop complaining, stop being part of the problem.

Also, the world isn't as dark as people think. Yes, there are problems, but there's a lot of good too. We're living in the least violent time in world history. And thwarted suicides happen all the time. Heck, I read an old Cracked article about an old man who walks by a popular suicide spot every day to make sure no ones there. He's saved dozens of people. Sometime he doesn't succeed, but he keeps going out there anyway. Our perceptions are influenced by our experiences, which is why it can be hard to see the good amongst all the bad.

You do realize the comic was just saying that the right person could shine light on another's bismal day, right? You are taking the comic too literal and getting mad over this? Seriously? It is a cute little comic, nothing insulting in anyway whatsoever.

Also a little tidbit: Comic's generally aren't realistic.
If you'll permit me my dear:

You do realize the comic was just saying that the right person could shine light on another's bismal abysmal day, right? You are taking the comic too literal literally and getting mad over this? Seriously? It is a cute little comic, nothing insulting in anyway whatsoever.

I'm sorry, it's just somewhat of a compulsion.

Children do have the right to choose suicide. Everyone does. Don't believe me? Try and take that right from them. You'll find it's extremely difficult to do so, unless you strap them to a bed 24/7, and then you're taking away far more than their right to suicide.
I haven't seen the comic, because FunnyJunk is a terrible site that I can't view in my place of employ. I just really want to underline this statement. I've dealt with a diverse spectrum of suicidal behavior, and the ultimate truth people find is such: When somebody wants to do it, I mean really wants to do it, you won't know, and you can't stop them. The tales of averted suicides describe those who lacked a true conviction to orchestrate their own end. Those who reach out, don't truly want to end their lives. They just feel powerless, overwhelmed, and want support that they find difficult or don't know how to ask for.

Am I encouraging suicide? Not at all.
Do I think many suicidal people can be helped to feel different? I think so.
Do I believe that I should have the right to take my own life at any time? Yes, it's my life. Not yours.

I would have jumped if someone told me to "Chillax"
Stupid word. I'd rather not get to know anyone who uses it either.
