Despite not being a goth myself, I gotta say, some of my friends look really hot when they get their outfits on.

Anyone else here agree that goths have a cool fashion sense?

Sometimes, when done right I find goths very cool and like the style, but only under the "done right[footnote]Sleek has no definition on done right, its just hard to explain[/footnote]" circumstances.

Like most things in life it's hit or miss, though I don't find excessive black make-up attractive most of the time, so it's more often miss than hit in my case.

My friends tend to be a sort of blend between goth and emo, and damn, sometimes it works really well.

I have to agree with this.

I had a friend once who's sister happened loved all things considered "Gothic," and flaunted the fashion to boot.

Granted, it wasn't to the degree of.. Oh... this [http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Gothic-Lolita-japanese-street-fashion-583807_439_766.jpg], but I considered it a case in the fashion being relatively appealing.

what is goth look like nowadays? I remember back in the day when we used to have to spend 50 dollars at hot topic for tripp pants. now look at ya! spending seventy five for a pair of diesel jeans!

ive witnessed goth evolve into emo and then become scene which looks pretty much identical to emo but dont tell the scenesters that. im talking post year 2000 just so you know.

The goth fashion when applied to females can be very very attractive.

My female friends all agree most males who dress goth just look stupid, ugly, or metro.

As well while i think the fashion can be pretty hot ultimately the goth talks. For me a crappy personality, much like one who lives the goth, emo, vampire, punk, scene, new irritating trend can make an attractive girl become hideous in half a second flat.

The attitude they express is generally so... repulsively stupid that i can't stand being around them.

So yeah, its hot as hell. Until they talk and you find out they actually believe all the goth crap.

I'm a goth. I have been for a long time.

I wish people would realize that being 'goth' is not about the clothes. It's about the idea of rebelling against the mainstream. Not a damn fashion statement.

I realize this, and I meant no disrespect to your ideals. I was merely commenting on the fashion often associated with Goth and Emo culture.

The people you're referring to are probably the wannabe goths. The ones that ruin the image for the handful of real goths out there. You can usually tell the difference between real goths and the store-bought wanna-be's because they have the clothes and accessories and all the expensive things. Real goths tend to have no money for those things for some reason.

Goth fashion isn't going to detract from an attractive girl, but it isn't going to conjure one either. Don't misunderstand. There are, in fact, fashion trends that do detract. I can't really think of one that conjures, though.

Also, goth as rebelling against the mainstream seems infinitely dumber than simply enjoying the aesthetics. I mean how do you assemble a nonconformist uniform? Shouldn't your house collapse under the weight of so much irony?

Goth is all well and good
But the real gems are Rockabilly chicks.
Pinup girl fashion with tattoo mindset...oh lordy.

As for goth being culture and not a fashion statement, every movement has its thing
you cant believe that people who came to the same decision about life and mainstream all somehow decided to dress the same way out of coincidence

Its a culture, a movement, and like every other movement out there, it comes with its own trappings and identity.
As a teenager its really hard to understand that that isn't a bad thing.
Like any movement or sub culture, its there to help give you a place in the world, dont get too caught up in what it means to everybody else..just what it means to you.

After school special over!

You know, that whole Goth scene is just so damn ridiculous. You will never ever ever escape the mainstream. The mainstream will shift to fit popular styles. Goth is one of them. The counter-culture is copy-written. I say wear what you think looks neat or is most convenient. Any statement-making with clothes just makes it easier for people to profile you and shrug you off. Fashion is fashion, ideals are ideals. Mixing them just makes stereotypes.

I really dig the Victorian-style romantigoths. Pretty girls in elaborate ballgowns and hats and corsets, with parasols and those shoes that might as well be corsets for feet? Yes please :3

I don't so much care for the puppystompers and spiked collars thing, but like every other aesthetic, some people really rock it.

Shit, I used to have a red mohawk and wear a leather jacket with studs and even i despise how goth kids look. It's just stupid. They took the punk rock look and made it into something to be ashamed of.

Having seen the old school goth scene no, too many dog collars and capes (they called them cloaks) for my liking, black does tend to look good on anyone, but you don't have to be goth to don a pair of black pants, and a tidy top.
