GoW3...is it too late?

I know that E3 is over, but there was too much hype over Gow3 to ignore. I myself missed out on the first and second GoW, and don't know much about the backstory. What they had to show at E3 was impressive, and it's looks like a really good game, and it seems to have the fan-base of halo3, and gears of War 2 put together.

I know that it's still just a small dot, on the horizon, but is it still too late to get into the series? How hard would it be to get my hands on copies of the first two? Is the series exclusive to the PS3? Have the prices of the originals gone down? How good have the others been? What's the gameplay like, and what are some of the best things about the series?

A pretty hefty checklist. Also, if somebody could fill me in, on the story so far (please remember to use spoilers). I'm not opposed to violence in vidoegames, and it looks to be one of the best games of 09.

So I ask, GoW3...is it too late for me to get into? (sorry if something like this has been done before, I did a search, and this seems to be the only one of it's kind)

In the second...uurr...I don't remenber that much...I think you spend most of the game trying to kick Zeus ass or something.

Also no its not to late to get into GoW.

No, it's not too late you still have plenty of time.

Pretty easily actually. Most stores still have copies of GoW2 and GoW is easily found on Amazon.

The first two are only for the PS2, the third will only come out on the PS3

Yes actually, you can find the first one online for about $5 and the second for about $10-15

The first two were excellent, although the first one was very short.

What's the gameplay like, and what are some of the best things about the series?

Gameplay consists of stylized fighting (ala Devil May Cry) and a few puzzles here and there. There are quick time events, but they are done right and most won't punish you too badly for not pulling them off. In fact a majority of them are not necessary, but merely optional things to defeat foes in more awesome ways. One of the best things about the series is how much of an utter badass it makes you feel the epicness of all the boss fights. The controls are easy to use and pulling off combos is rather intuitive.

So I ask, GoW3...is it too late for me to get into?

It's still not too late, you have about another year or so do catch up. Try them out

Kratos was this powerfull Spartan warrior/general, him and his spartan army waged war with everyone they saw that wasn't Greek(not to sure on that). One day Kratos and the Spartans meet this powerfull army of Barbarian that kick the Spartans ass.

Kratos tries to save his life and of his men by pledging alliance to Ares the God of War. So Kratos sells his soul and in exchange Ares smithes the Barbarians. From then on Kratos works for Ares and plunders and pillages everything that Ares tells him to do.

On a raid to a village while killing a bunch of Athena worships he finds out that he kills his own wife and son. When he discovers what monster he became, Kratos starts on a journey of revenge agaisnt Ares.

Oh and the reason of his skin colour its cause some old hag put a curse on him so he would remenber his sins to the end of his life. The ashes of his wife and son are "glued" to his body.

Thats the best that my memory can come up.

Ah, thanks for the info, I'll check out the others. It sounds like a really good game series. The actual third game being so far away after all is kinda depressing, I'm hoping to be preoccupied with the first two till then. Thanks again.
