When I make a post, I'm what a few people might call excessive. If I don't know how to spell a word, I check. When I finish, I proofread it. If after posting I notice something I don't like, I edit it. When I notice someone else has made a spelling/grammar mistake, I'm polite and ignore it. Everyone forgets to capitalize an i every so often. We're only human.

But.

When I see something like THIS:
Number one, that was my opinion. and i dont appreciate the fact that you said that shit. If i want to say , she cant sing , who the fuck are you to tell me otherwise? If i wanna say shes creepy looking , who the fuck are you to tell me no she isn't? You are in no position to tell me ,that i can't say what i please. And two , she did ruin the song. what the fuck is up that that lame ass beat?and if you like this girl...thats wonderful. but don't me other wise. have a wonderful day. :)

I. Get. A. Little. Upset.

What about you guys. When you see something like... that... how do you respond? Am I the only one who's blood steams when people forget to capitalize words after sentences or just keep on talking in a single block of text creating a massive illegible run on sentence that goes on and on with nary a period or indentation in sight and don't consider basic sentence structure nor the difficulty of reading such an incomprehensible mess?

Or am I just a "Grammar Nazi?"

You found something in the youtube comment section?

I see... You should never take anything in there to mean anything at all.

But there's nothing wrong with a little Grammar Naziism, I tend to go a little crazy with it a lot.

You call that post "bad grammar"? Sure, he's generous with punctuation, even a lot, doesn't use capital letters... But he doesn't make any spelling errors. Really, there are worse. The only major problem is misuse of "otherwise".

We must eradicate the filthy ones! The ones who think they can put commas wherever they wish! Damn them I say!

Brought to you by Skitzo Van, bringing "grammar nazi" to a whole new level.

I usually find errors like that very annoying. I don't bother with pointing it out unless it's ironic or at least funny though - I'd be spending far too much of my time effectively sub-editing the internet.

Irony? Seems you too are the Nazi persuasion. A lack of an ' does not make me an idiot, as aside from the intentional mistakes, that was my only real mistake. And honestly, I do get confused with its and it's since I keep finding that both get both descriptions. The other ones I have down fine. Your, you're, than, then, there, their, they're. All I care is that people don't spell you as u.

With the exception of the over use of punctuation and misplacement of capitalization that comment was okay. But in reality it's fucking YOUTUBE i don't expect intelligent and well thought out things to come dribbling of the mouths of their user community.

I'm the victim of Grammar Nazi's from time to time. Somehow always when they're out of their wits in a discussion.

However, since English is not my first language I just smile and tell them I'll return the favor if I ever see them fuck up Dutch.

Yeah well... I have the same procedure, I kinda want my english to be understandable. But don't worry about it too much. Us foreigners can have... varying ideas about how to make a sentence grammatically correct.

But it really helps if the grammar is at least decent. If you should get the urge to rape it like Miumaru just did (love that mental image btw), chances are only native english-speakers will understand you.

'Its' is possessive, and is an exception to the general rule (and therefore commonly misused).

Nnnnno they don't. "Its" and "It's" are two different words. Hell, "It's" is two words.

Please don't put us all in one bag. Don't all foreigners have problems with grammar. Heck, some of us have better grammar/spelling than natives.

Mmmm, yeah they do. Believe it or not, alot of people do NOT know the difference. While the Escapist seems to enjoy some intelectual superiority over much of the internet, most people will make my same mistake, and not know it. And when two different words are only different by the grand total of one character, IT IS not something to be surprised about when they are mixed up or something.

As for being better than natives, IT IS because since you are learning like in a school and not from merely growing up around it, you learn by the book standard, not by the comfort standard.

But no.

Unlike while and whilst, flammable and inflammable and there, their and they're, it and it's are most definitely not interchangeable.

Some of us do, yes. But that's not really the point. I just meant that it's a lot easier for us to understand what others mean if they at least try to use correct grammar. I have some british friends, and have read english books for many years, but doesn't really help if I read some post with grammar that has been stomped on, set on fire and then been thrown out the window.

I did not say they were, I said that if I asked a regular guy on the streets to define them, then asked another, it would not be crazy they would define them as the other. Obviously one was wrong, but when many are wrong and just as many right, it gets difficult to know. Being put on the stake for its is making me less inclined to be so tongue in cheek about saying grammar nazi.

Apart from the accuracy regarding 'flammable' and 'inflammable', your ignorant comment caused me to snort with derision. Perhaps you ought to get the tiniest bit of education about a subject before you jump down someone's throat with with your uninformed ramblings.
