Kojima, Please just shut-up.

Please stop trying to use insipid melodrama to promote your game.

Yours sincerely

Perhaps he should have stuck with stealth then.
The games are stealth? I don't get this statement.
I thought metal gear games where stealth :D
With the exception of Revengeance, they've all been stealth. Pretty sure MGS5 will focus on stealth. Not sure what your original comment implies.
it's sandbox therefore the stealth is lost
O.T. I dunno why he's so worried I mean it's like everyone has been saying they offer two different experiences
idk... Batman: Arkham City was "open world" but you could still do stealth with the pockets of criminals scattered around.

I just hope kojima isn't thinking of making snake go around stealing cars horses and beating up hookers horses.

The original was practically a "Sandbox" as well.

Even Far Cry 3 has stealth, didnt you saw the MGSV trailer, the fact that its sandbox is even better for a stealth game. Stealth missions in the Arma games are very cool because of that, they arent puzzles but situations where the player can try anything
I hope you both know that I was referring to what the guy meant when the guy said "he should of stuck with stealth" I have against the phantom pain and am looking forward to it

Isn't this one of those things that isn't really newsworthy? The headline makes it seem like a news story but then you find out it's just Hideo saying he wishes he could make a game as big as GTAV... That seems like simple tweets being turned into a big deal. Is it big news when he tweets about his dinner? Same thing happened with the Ellen Page/Last of Us thing...

But it is nice to see Hideo complimenting a rival studio on their game. It'd be nice if he tried to learn from it instead of copying it, of course.

MGS 5 may not be as good as GTA 5, but neither will surpass FFV. At least they will both be better than RE 5. And Mario Party 5. And the Jackson 5.

He should not worry. It's not the end of the world. And almost everybody is aware already that GTAV is going to be the game of this generation.
I don't know, the last one didn't seem to blow anyone's mind, and I can think of multiple games that seemed more impressive. I don't think it deserves game of the year, much less game of the generation. Only time will tell though, maybe the clouds will part, and the angels will sing, and GTA5 will descend from the heavens to prove me wrong, haha.

Personally, I'm more interested in Saints Row. If that's not the voice of a generation, then I don't know what is.

Sorry but what? Since when does being a sandbox game wipe away the stealth aspects? Dishonored was pretty open world. Same with the Theif games. To a lesser stealth extent Assassin's Creed. Even Watch Dogs looks to be an open world stealth game.

And the MGS5 poster has the "Tactical Espionage Action" tagline that every MGS except Revengeance has carried, meaning stealth is the focus.

So how does it being an open world game lose its stealth aspect to you?

If 4 was any indication, GTA 5 isn't going to be all that great unless Rockstar got their shit together. No game should ever feel the need to wear you down with incessant, clingy NPCs who take offense the second you don't want to hang out with them.

Their biggest worry should be Saints Row 4, but then again it isn't because it's not "Saints Row 5".
GTA 4 was a great improvement on the series. D: The gameplay was about eight different types of better. And I honestly believe the annoyance about being called by NPC's is kinda hyperbole as it's never really gotten on my nerves, nevermind that you can hang up on every conversation.

At any rate, the next GTA is looking good, so is the next Metal Gear. But it is cool to se a developer just be like, "Dude, this game looks badass. I hope mine isn't blown out of the water. But still, so cool."

Well considering GTAIV was multiplatform and MGSIV wasn't i think its safe to say that MGSIV out-performed GTAIV on PS3.
Actually, it didn't. GTA IV has sold a total of 9.78 million copies for the PS3 and MGS IV has "only" sold 5.78. It's still a very respectable number though.

Oh! Oh! Right here! Mind blown by GTA IV!

I really liked GTA IV. I didn't mine the friend-mechanic since everytime I did hang out with one of the friends it meant that I would learn something new about that character or Niko. If I remember correctly it was during one of those "missions" I found out what happened to Roman's mother. Deeply disturbing.

And as far as Saints Row go... well, it's fun. I liked the first one, the second one was really fun, and the third one... well, it wasn't bad and did entertain me, but it really felt like it missed the point of what made SR2 so good. I'm still on the fence about SR4, not sure I'll end up buying it.

Cousin, actually, but yes. That's the main reason I only played GTAIV through once.
Pretty sure he was splicing comments said by Liquid and Roman. Try reading it in their voices now!

I've seen about a billion Elder Scrolls characters that make your statement so wrong you might as well have said the sun was black.

GTA may have more freedom in many ways true. But MGS's gameplay is deeper and tactical.

Well I don't think he has much to worry about as there probably isn't a lot of audience overlap between the two.

Wait you're trashing GTA IV while praising SR3? I felt SR3 was an absolute piece of wank and the fact they're going even further overboard with SR4 and throwing away everything that made SR2 great just leaves me with no interest in the game whatsoever. I played SR2 for countless hours, I was done with SR3 as soon as I went through the story and that didn't take long at all. The whole "oh look how wacky this stuff is" got old way too fast for me.

And have you even seen the trailers for GTA V? The man is not kidding, it looks absolutely amazing. I was not a big fan of GTA IV, the phone, the music, the grey-assed city, the annoying cliched protagonist, but it did a number of things well too. But GTA V is very clearly taking a lot of hints from what I consider to be their best game to date, San Andreas. They're bringing back the air and water and it looks to be quite a comeback. With three protagonists, it could lead to some very interesting scenarios and if their multiplayer has a 3 player co-op where you can go through the entire story together, I'll likely be looking at my favourite game ever.
