Unforgiven, no question.

On a slightly related note, I saw a trailer last night for a completely stupid movie that seems like a mix of Western, Sci Fi, and Grindhouse. Can't remember the name, but it has Megan Fox and Josh Brolin. Have to say it looks like trash.

There was an arcade quick draw light gun game that I loved circa 1984. You stood on a platform and there was a pair of chaps and a holster there in front of you. Favorite Western? Can I pick five?
Once Upon a Time in the West. This is an Opera, an Opera of Death.
The Good The Bad and the Ugly. Screw Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach all the way, this is Tuco's film.
Unforgiven, Eastwood takes the good bits of Leone and Siegel and the DOP from Serenity and makes a masterpiece.
The Searchers, this and the Rio Bravo trilogy are the only John Wayne films I like, but this is spectacular.
Shane. It's Shane, Jack Palance, Alan Ladd, I just came into town to buy some rock candy for my kid. Nuff Said.

Oh there are so many more. The Wild Bunch, The Long Riders, The Magnificent Seven, Hang Em' High, Pale Rider, The Outlaw Josie Wales, The Ox-Bow incident, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance to name but a few.

That would be Jonah Hex. Which is based off a DC comic book FYI.

To me, The Dark Tower is western/fantasy and I would hail that as my favourite western media. Roland is portrayed as ageing and filled with problems, but still cool.

Just now, I've only played 3 western games. "Gun" was great all round and probably the best of the bunch so far; Red Dead Revolver was good for its day if a bit frustrating sometimes, although the huge multiplayer made up for it; Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood wasn't very good for my money, although I admittedly did only buy it to tide me over until Red Dead Redemption came out. Seriously, I've been haunting the official site for months, dying for it to come out. It drops in Europe in less than 24 hours, and I can't wait...

I never played Red Dead Revolver, but I did play Gun, which I thought was a pretty good game.
Except for the final boss. Never did beat that guy; overpowered shotgun, immunity to bullets and fire, and absolutely no hints on how to beat him. I'm still bitter.

Once upon a time in the West. Such an epic movie. Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone on top form. Charles Bronson, Jason Robards and Henry Fonda in great roles.
This amillion times this. Unforgiven and A Fisfull of Dollars are two other amazing westerns but neither come close in my opinion.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for The Shootist and Rooster Cogburn. John Wayne at his best in my opinion.
