Alright I have looked to no avail so I turn to you my friends at The Escapist. I have recently received Team Fortress 2 as a gift from a friend. My laptop can play it and my internet is not an issue, even though I can play at the absolute minimum I still get nose dives in FPS.

This leaves me to ask, "How do I fix such a problem without purchasing an AlienWare desktop?" I came to an answer recently thinking that I should purchase a graphics card that might improve the FPS so that I may have fun. Now I did say I own a laptop, my specs follow below

Manufacturer: TOSHIBA

Model: Satellite U305

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2Duo CPU T5450 @1.66GHz 1.67GHz

Memory(RAM): 2.00GB

System Type: 32-Bit Operating System

Now that all of that is out of the way I would like to post a question, which is why I'm posting this. If I were to purchase a NVidia's GeForce 6800 would I be able to take my laptop down to a shop (after purchasing said card) have it installed and have this whole shenanigan laid to rest so that I may play without FPS nose dives? If not would you kindly offer a different solution that doesn't involve purchasing a whole new system?

No

Steal a whole new system.

Not what you wanted to hear, I know. Laptops are very limited as to what you can upgrade. Usually it's just RAM, HDD, battery and screens.

Edit:
You can of course change every individual part in a laptop if you set your mind to it but it wouldn't be worth the costs of having someone do it for you and the end result wouldn't be great as the case is not meant to accommodate higher specced hardware so it would just fry, the PSU wouldn't powerful enough, etc..

Simple, you buy a MSI.

A few of the high end gaming laptops have refittable graphics cards. Unfortunately yours does not. Short of buying a new machine, preferably a desktop, there is not a great deal you can do.

Your avatar is from Team Fortress 2, mind telling me your specs for the giggles. And while your at it would you mind telling me what sort of machine I should invest in for this sort of gaming (I'm not really a knowledgeable person in this field).
