I recently purchased the Palit GeForce GTX 570 SONIC 1280MB NVIDIA Graphics Card. But here's the thing. It plain just doesn't work.

At first I thought it was my power supply, but I bought a new one that should easily manage it. The card requires 550w. And my power supply can pump out 700w.

So I have three things i'm thinking that are wrong.

1) Does my M4N78-AM V2 motherboard support it?

2) I'm new to this sort of graphics card, there are two PCI ports on the side, presumably for extra electricity from the PSU. There is a 6 pin and an 8 pin. Do BOTH of them need to be plugged up? Because the manual says one or the other. But then again, the manual does look like it was written by a Mexican that hasn't even heard of English.

3) The card is kaput.

I bought 2 8 pin PCI express leads. And neither of them have actually worked, and I know for a fact its a manufacturing fault, because a current doesn't even run through them. But I just want to know, do you need to fill both of the ports?

The card needs an 8-pin AND a 6-pin connected to work. Doing google-fu, looks like you got the platinum/overclocked version so it needs additional power, hence the 8-pin/6-pin rather than 2x 6-pin.
