Bleh, why can no one ever be a moderate these days? Yes, there is too much focus on graphics over gameplay. No, this doesn't mean graphics are completely unimportant, not does it mean we should return to old graphics engines.
If everyone was a moderator then nobody would have any views or opinions of their own.
Moderate - i.e. not an extremist. For example, you hold an opinion but accept that not everyone accepts it.

Crysis: Limiting involvment to people with deep pockets = Bad idea.
Gamers are the ones limiting themselves. If they do not want to purchase a game because they aren't able to run on uber-max, that is their decision. Crysis has a low detail option which works on a lot of systems.

if you don't want game designers to make pretty but boring games, stop judging games based on screenshots... it's ridiculous how excited people get over screenshots.

i played far cry 2 and thought it was awful. i put it to maximum settings and the game still didn't even look as good as fallout 3 or bioshock, neither of which have i tried at full.

Yes, but not ALL systems. It seems to me that not being able to allow all gamers access to the game is a big mistake both financially and from a fanbase standpoint also.

However, I guess it would'nt be a Crytek game without the graphics being amazing so I'll wrap up by saying that: Graphics cards arn'nt killing creativity. An unwillingness to buy games that take artistic decisions with the coulour pallete, graphical design and gameplay innovation within mainstream gaming ARE killing developer and publisher creativity.

While I agree that games now are more about showing off technology, rather than making game play enjoyable and memorable, I do not agree that the graphics card industry is to blame. I blame the over saturation of the gaming industry, where developers are a dime a dozen, all spewing out mediocre games, simply trying to show who can create the best lighting or water effects.

Wishful thinking, but I'd like to see developers advance in both. Fantastic use of technology and fantastic game play.

Of course it can't run on "ALL" systems. Not even WOW will run on a pentium I 66mhz. But then again maybe the developers should change the game so that it could?
