No, I think they should go back to the poorer graphics style because it WORKED! The graphics made me personally worry a little, and added to the atmosphere. To make a Silent Hill with Okami graphics would only have disastrous results.Richard Groovy Pants post=9.75164.859571 said:You clearly don't know the notions of realistic and stylized.Milkatron post=9.75164.859562 said:Horror does NOT need realistic graphics. Silent Hill is possibly the most horrifying game I've ever played, and the graphics left a lot to be desired. It may help (I've never played either Condemned) but it's certainly not a necessity.Shellsh0cker post=9.75164.859277 said:I definitely agree that it depends on the game. "Arty" or "wacky fun" games like Braid or Katamari Damacy clearly fit their graphics and vice versa. Action, on the other hand, should stick primarily with realism. Horror especially needs realistic graphics; if it wasn't so real, it wouldn't be scary. Overall it depends on the tone of the game and the way the game presents itself.
It left a lot to desire because they couldn't do it better at that time.
Do you think the developers of silent hill (god bless them) would make a horror movie with the Okami style? If yes then please throw yourself into the nearest well.
Maybe I just missed the good old days.
