So I logged into PSN today to find like 4 messages from friends of mine saying if they send this annoying chain message to 150 people on PSN, they'll get into the Cod: MW2 beta as well as exclusive access to the best gun in the game?
Has anybody else encountered this, and is it just bullshit spam that I should be deleting?
Or does it actually have merit and legitimacy?
Any insight would be great.
What say you, Escapists?

I haven't been on for a while, but it shouldn't be legit. I don't think IW would hand out beta and exclusiveness based on chainmail spam, that is reserved for pre-order bonuses! Most likely it's just another person with anoher chain-mail, a different take to spread it around...

That's what I assumed. I myself don't have much interest in MW2, but I figured it wasn't legitimate.

Is there anybody who actually can verify 100% if this crap is spam, or what?
Hardly anybody's posted.
Hav I actually found a topic that nobody knows anything about?
Is this a new age of chainmails and spam via Console Instant Messaging Applications? :S

It's spam, after we got the Copy and Paste feature all we've been getting is dickheads starting up chainmails, and more idiots pass it on.
Thanks very much, now I can contribute to stopping it from getting worse. If only we could stop it completely... :(

Haha, yeah, that's definitely spam. For one thing, there isn't even a MW2 beta.
Kinda makes me glad that I have a relatively small friends list on my PSN, and those on it aren't idiots.

Its almost certainly spam. If IW were giving away Beta's, they wouldn't do it via those "if you send this to this many people..." bullshit messages. Ignore it, don't encourage spam.

Does that not just show the sheer gullibility/stupidity of some of Cod's fan base?

Just delete the message and laugh and completely take this piss out of whoever was stupid enough to believe that, that will stop them sending further spam in the future.

How the fuck is it Sony fault that PSN is populated with idiots?
Did i in any way say that it was Sony's fault that PSN is populated by idiots??

I said i would be disappointed if Sony actually kept track of that message to see who sent it and to how many, so that they could recieve bonus items and beta testing..

So READ and UNDERSTAND before flaming genious..

While I'm quite sure that it's just spam (beta entry by sending chain message? Don't think so), it's easier for us to give our opinion on the message if we could read it ourselves.
For instance, when I got a similar chain message (no fancy weapon in mine, though), I figured it was fake when it said that "P S3", as opposed to Infinity Ward or Sony, was giving it out and by seeing that there were a bunch of spelling errors.
Still fooled the friend who sent me it, though...

hahahaha, when this once seemed rather legitimate sent by someone named Carmellar who claimed to be from IW.
