So I recently bought Gratuitous Space Battles (alas, I for some reason did not get all the dlc for some idiotic reason) on Steam for $5, and I have to say, this game is pretty awesome.

Basically, the game consists of designing ships and then setting up your fleet's formation, with a somewhat limited command system. Commands consist of things like "Cooperate" [makes them prefer the same target as the other ships surrounding them, concentrating it], "Vulture" [attacks damaged ships], "Formation" [holds same position relative to a specific ship you set], etc. The command system is limited because I'd like to be able to delay my fighters from entering the battle. It's annoying to place 4 maximum squadrons, set them to "Vulture" and at the start of the battle watch them rush up to 19 enemy frigates and get annihilated.

There are 3 basic kinds of ships, with different hulls that have different modifiers and numbers of hardpoints (where weapons are placed) and defensive/passive slots.
Fighters are small, with between 3 - 5 slots total, Frigates and slightly bigger, and Cruisers (Which seem to me to be the only thing worth using) are the biggest, with the most slots available.

However, I hate the fact there isn't any gargantuan Titan (a la Eve, with it's doomsday device) or Reaper kind of ship that's expensive, but huge, and able to take on fleets or half fleets at a time.

I wish there were a way of modding one in.

Anyways, anyone else out there find this awesome game?

Also, if anyone can help me make some good builds, especially for frigates, carriers, and fighters.

For me, all the battles consisted of getting as many cruisers as possible, outfitted with as many of the strongest missiles as possible and then filling out the remaining fleet size with whatever the fuck I want. Stick them on co-operative, hit go and then watch the enemy cruisers get completely steamrolled as wave after wave of missiles slams into them.

Yeah... thats basically the game.

By carriers, I meant cruisers put in the role of a carrier. Eh.
I enjoy watching the other fleets get anihilated, but my laptop can't handle real games like Simcity 4 (ugh I wasted my money on this pos laptop)
