So i got a job that makes good cash. Overtime, Hazard, and Distance Bonus's. However it's 10 days on, 4 days off. I get opitcal and health after 3 months plus wage increase and after 9 months dental. The major downside is the camp moves every few months and right now it's 6 hour drive and in the mountains. And in canada winters are cold. Do i suck it up and take it or do i wait for something else? The job is title of the forum. I work in a gravel pit and with heavy machinery. Any opinions? plus this will be my last post for a while so any well wishes or ideas of junk to keep me entertained.

Unless there is something better around I'd take it. Jobs are an issue right now so if it's good pay and benefits it's worth the hassle at the moment.

There is no such thing as too much masturbation in the mountains.

Sleep with your ass to the wall.

how old are you? I say just do it. That's life experience right there.

bring weed.

Sounds like the title of a horror novel.

'Gravel Pit'

A jobless man finds an oppertunity that was too perfect. Well looked after - dental and medical care... guaranteed. It couldn't go wrong.

Oh yeah. It was in a gravel pit. With loads of fucking machines. Like that will go well.

But I kid, don't listen to me.

Only to the voices of the dead indians the pit is inevitably dug over.

It's your call dude. You seem to know the hazards and benefits. Put it together. If the pros outweigh the cons for YOU, then you know what you've gotta do. I work in a somewhat dangerous business as well, but there's more benefit to me doing that as opposed to not. It's all about you. Oh yeah, and like TheMatt said... bring weed.

Keep it and watch point C, Scouts suck like hell.

But in all seriousness, Keep it, claim superiority over your fellow man, like the rest of us with shit-dangerous jobs.

Oh and i found out last night i work 12 hour night shift. 18 people on crew spilt 9 at night 9 during day. However the pit moves to a new location in October so i could be heading farther north. And it doesn't shut down in the winter. I need some pyro's.

Take the job, just watch out for big russians with chain guns.

#worst case scenario is you leave or get fired some point down the line, you can always leave if a better offer comes along.

Do you like the job? Cause it sounds like you don't. My general philosophy in employment is 'job satisfaction first, money second' - it doesn't matter if you get a shit pay or have to travel ages to get to said job, if you enjoy the work then keep doing it. If your making riches but are bored to death (or worse, in danger of actual death), however, I wouldn't continue

Keep it for the time being, and wait until the job market improves- then go looking for new jobs if you want.
