Ah, free stuff. I'm sure most of you love free stuff, right? So, searching for stuff to do on that vast space we call 'the intrawebs', I stumbled upon this little game. http://www.blendogames.com/
Now the game claims to be about 'sabotage'. So, for those who love comparisons, think of it as Hitman. But more cheerful. And with more cubes. And less depressing missions. For instance, your first mission is to, simply, give a drink to this guy here: http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/949/949087/gravity-bone-20090128052928666-000.jpg (I'm sorry, but I've no idea on how to insert pictures). The thing is, there is no radar or minimap or such, so you have to actually do some goddamn work. Of course, it doesn't take that long to find him, but still, you get to explore the (albeit short) beautiful environment, populated by CUBE PEOPLE, dun dun dun.
Graphics-wise, as you can see, the game uses bright, cheerful colours, including manly-man-flourescent-fabulous pink (for men). And I have to admit, a lot of effort does seem to have been put in into designing the faces, comparing for example, the picture of the aforementioned fabulous guy and this depressing dude: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3112/3159461500_5f23d5d9ac_o.png (why so srs?, one may note). 'But Goldcrow' you cry 'Surely, he could've used the same skins over and over?'. 'Well,' I may respond 'If he did, that would've been criminally obvious on his part, considering how RIDICULOUSLY SHORT the game is'.
In terms of sound, I have to admit, I was impressed. Starting your mission, the first thing you hear is cheerful instrumental music which fades when you go indoors. But what really got me was the 'conversation'. It's presented as a mixture of muffled-walkie-talkie-like conversation and pure gibberish which actually sounds rather funny.
So, the story. You play as 'Citizen Able', saboteur extraordinaire, apparently. And you travel around -putting how many levels there are here would actually be a spoiler, believe it or not- levels, which in themselves, are nicely contrasted, performing missions of sabotage or somesuch. However, in the end, you get -ahemed- by a woman. Yes, try and figure THAT one out without going for anything dirty first.
Unfortunately, as I have already mentioned, the game is short. In fact, it took me longer to write this review than finish the game. And if you think that THIS is short, well, call it artsy and 'poetic licence'.
