Gravity Falls

The trifecta.
There are some good cartoons out right now. It's surprising after the waist land of 2008-2010 after the loss of Avatar, Zim, and Teen Titans.
I know. I'm really happy about all the good stuff out right now. Its quite honestly the best its been since the 90's and early 2000's.

But there is still a lot of shady stuff going on. The Tron show got cancelled, Gendy Tartakovsky's show Symbiotic Titan got cancelled because there were no toys to sell to go along with the show. I guess the silver lining of that is one of the writers for it now writes for MLP.

I've never been a fan of comic book stuff but I heard Young Justice is in trouble now too. I guess there is a campaign in motion to save the show so that is a glimmer of hope.
Symbiotic Titan's cancelling was the biggest bunch of crap ever!
:( I miss them....

Well, at least there are some good shows still going on tv still.
And the the web too. ;)

At the very least we can hope for some more good shows to come around at some point on tv.
Until then, we do have what we got now, and the Escapist.

Well if you are disappointed about Gravity Falls, there was one on march 1st, and another coming on the 15. Just saying. Also I love this picture. IT IS AMAZING!

Oh my god DEM THIGHS!

Sorry, that animation less "hit" my fetish button than smashed it with a hammer >.>

Anyways, funny strip, and I do like the lack of snark this time around. I was getting tired of it.

In the first panel, the sweater lined with lights is plugged into the wall.

I missed that too until Vault pointed it out.

The joke became a lot funnier when I figured that out. <.<
I got that it was plugged in, but don't know what the cartoon itself is referencing :p

The sweater caught on fire.

Erin became The Human Torch.

The Fantastic Four isn't really that obscure, is it?

Just google/youtube Gravity Falls opening and wait until it introduces Mabel.

*debating whether or not I should link actual Gravity Falls clips of awesome Gravity Falls moments*

Some people would put regular show in there too. Its not bad. I put those 3 in terms of quality (animation, writing, humor etc). But those 3 are just my personal preferences.

I just don't find this to be funny in the slightest

That is dudebro. I experience enough of that in real life. I don't want that in cartoons I watch.
Personally, I love Regular Show, it's that ironic dudebro/stoner humor that draws me in. FiM, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Amazing World of Gumball, Dan vs (occasionally), and Regular Show are all great in their own way. Bravest Warriors on YouTube is also great.

I remember the late 2000's in general being fairly sparce although I was big into anime at the time, one lead to the other. I can only really remember watching Hartmans stuff like Fairly Odd Parents I didn't even see many Cartoon Networt repeats, I still had hang ups over Toonami.

True, but the 2008-2010 time frame in particular saw cartoon network airing CNreal with things like: Destroy Build Destroy and Dude, What Would Happen, BrainRush, ext, ext. "CNreal" probably the dumbest idea ever. The cartoons they were showing tended to be some version of Scooby Doo or Tom & Jerry, and, for a while, they seemed to be grabbing anything 'Fresh TV' made (6teen, Total Drama, Stoked). things are better now, but still not quite back the the mid to late 90's assortment.

And i just realized how similar Erin and Mabel are. Both are adorable... and magnets to disaster, so Erin could be something like a disillusioned, cynical future-self of Mabel.

But, that dance and that ending theme... i, ehm, eh...
whaaaaaaaaa?
To me it's even bizarre compared to other anime themes - and i like it! I now call it J-dadaism.

Dragon Half was weirdly enough part of my early (an well loved) anime education, I Dormamu, will not regret this!
