I recently discovered two great bands I'd never heard of, and I was wondering if you Escapists had found any cool unknown bands either?

Debauchery. They're a slow death metal band from Germany. You have to REALLY like them if you want to like them, because I only like their song, "Blood for the Blood God".

And he might not be a band, or for all I know not that unheard of but he's Jonathan Coulton.

I know Muse, I think I saw them in concert in Missouri before they were cool. Like the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Lawrence, KS.

I really fell in love with keane. They went pretty unheard of here in the states, most people had heard there first hit "Somewhere only we know" but didn't know who it was by.

The J-Metal band Maximum the Hormone. Really energetic songs and great vocals. They composed the opening and ending themes for the second series of Death Note.

I still have yet to download their new album too...

Sloan (Canadian Power-Pop/Rock) is the best band you've never heard of.

I discovered Chiodos and Scary Kids Scaring Kids awhile back. Just recently, I found out about From First to Last and Radio City Tragedy. The latter bands are kind of...new, therefore I don't necessarily like them a whole lot.

Bedouin Soundclash!
Love 'em! Great for relaxing. Helps me with my road-rage with I'm driving.

Also, unapologetically: Jenny Rom.
Say what you will, but I can't help but tap my foot to the crazy pop-techno beats...of Jenny Rom.

Of Montreal, they makes some generally trippy music so if your a big metal fan, you won't like them. I would suggest you take a look at some of their music videos, they're incredibly creative or insane, it's all a matter of how you look at them.

here are some of their wierder ones;

A couple of the better-known but still not mainstream bands I like include The Most Serene Republic, Apostle of Hustle, and Jeffrey Lewis. For a really obscure band, though, you can't go wrong with The SSRIs.

Metronomy and I Monster for all those in need of an English-Electro-Alternative-Pop intake.
