Iron Maiden when they played in Jakarta. Also, Kaiser Chiefs, Social Distortion and Maiden again literally two days ago at Rock Werchter. Kasabian wasn't bad either.

The most memorable band I've seen live has to be Muse.
Damn what a show :D

On the "less show more energy" front i would go with Korpiklaani and Alestorm.
Other bands I still remember without looking them up.
Kamalot, Eluveitie, Heidenvolk, Moonsorrow
and then my brain quit on me (get back to work damn you!).

oh yeh and a few years ago, Slayer. on the 4th of July in The Netherlands. Great to see live but stfu about "liberating us from the nazi's" and "how great america can be".. and just play!

The only two that stick out for me, are Metaltown 2009, when I saw Disturbed, and Metaltown 2011, when I saw Avenged Sevenfold.

But my GOD were those concerts AWESOME!

I've seen a fair few bands live, but the best would be Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Bad Religion, Nine Inch Nails and Marky Ramones Blitzkrieg for personal love of the music. For the actual spectacle of the performance, I'd say Alice Cooper and Rammstein. If you love a good mosh pit, though, nothing beats a Hatebreed, Skindred or Slayer gig. For laughs and audience interaction (and boobs), the kings are Steel Panther.

Actually, for a full list of what I've seen live (as some people are doing) look at my last.fm page [http://www.last.fm/user/Cpt_Oblivious]

I saw Opeth twice, one of those shows was their 20th anniversary tour.
I also saw Eluveitie with Belphegor and Alestorm, that was fun.
Finntroll/Ensiferum/Rotten Sound/Barren Earth. I met Sami and Petri from Ensiferum afterwards, it was great.
Behemoth puts on insane live shows and I got to see them before Nergal got leukemia.
I saw Bodom with Black Label Society.
Apocalyptica was fantastic.
I saw Maiden with Dream Theater. I liked Maiden better for that show haha
I saw Dream Theater another time for Prog Nation too.
Also, if anyone who likes metal gets a chance to see Gojira, do it. They're awesome live.

Volbeat, Rush, and Iron Maiden. Volbeat is one of those bands I would happily follow around the world if I had the money.

Tool, Rammstein, Metallica, Muse

Honestly, I don't think you can actually go wrong with a live band. Doesn't matter who they are

I'm going to go see, among others, Alice Cooper and Van Halen when they play at a music festival later this year (Soundwave Revolution). At the more metal oriented Soundwave festival earlier this year, I saw Iron Maiden live. Pretty amazing show. Them and Slayer were good.

A list of all bands I've seen (that I enjoyed).
A Day to Remember
Bullet for My Valentine
Bring Me the Horizon
Cancer Bats
Escape the Fate
Iron Maiden
Slayer
Stone Sour

Also gonna go see Rise Against in two weeks, can't wait!

The Black Keys. It wasn't a big show in a stadium, but just a local venue in my city. It's all about the music. And it was incredibly awesome. There are only two guys but you wouldn't guess that by the noise they make. Best concert ever!

Saw Rush on the second leg of the Snakes and Arrows tour; my God, what an amazing show. Between Jerry Stiller butchering chickens, stop motion Neil Peart, and the best musicianship I've ever seen live, it was probably one of the coolest nights of my life.

A close second was The Eagles in Saskatoon. A different concert entirely, but the musicianship and dedication to the craft thereof was still very prevalent.

Slipknot put on a great show. Metallica was pretty good, too, except that it was mostly stuff from Death Magnetic. I've also seen Streetlight Manifesto and they're one of my two absolute favourite bands. My other favourite band (Reel Big Fish) is touring with Streetlight this summer, and I'm going to see them together on the 22nd! If Reel Big Fish plays as well as they did on their live album and DVD, I might die of excitement and happiness that night.

I've seen Primus twice, and both times were incredible. I've also seen Converge, Revocation, GWAR, Toxic Holocaust, Municipal Waste, Bonded By Blood, Gama Bomb, Evile, and Testament, among others. The ones I named were my favorite bands to see live.

So I want to know what concerts you guys have gone to, maybe some of us have gone to the same and can share memories?
Too many to list, so instead, here's some of my most bizarre, spectacular and just plain weird concert memories:

* An audience member getting up on stage and lighting a bong at a Beastie Boys gig, then offering it to the band (who refused to touch it, presumably for legal reasons) before diving off stage. He somehow evaded any consequences from both venue security and police, despite having bright blue hair and being really tall, and them actively looking for him.

* Also at another Beastie Boys gig, their keyboardist climbing a PA stack easily over 25 foot high and diving off it, landing on his keyboard, and continuing to play as if nothing had happened.

* An orange smokebomb going off in front of Spiderbait during an outdoor festival that was so large it obscured the entire front of the massive outdoor stage for at least two minutes.

* A Fear Factory gig where the crowd invaded the stage - by the end of the show over 40 people were onstage moshing out with the band while they were playing their encore song "Martyr". People were stagediving but there was nobody really there to catch them thanks to most of the crazy up-the-front punters being actually on stage themselves, so many people were hitting the floor.

* Necro playing an all-ages gig, where the all-ages area was a cordoned-off area right at the front of the stage. When Necro went into his customary "time to do sex raps, let's get the girls onstage" a whole bunch of underage girls went up, as they were closest to the stage - the adults were all at the rear of the venue, where the bar and alcohol was. Necro and crew tried to grope them a bit as they are known for doing during this part of the evening and the girls reacted predictably i.e ewww, GTFO. Awkward, awkward times.

* Mr Bungle playing on a very small stage with no room to move whatsoever. A 7-piece band with bonkers music and the vocalist manning two microphones and effects machines, Mike Patton did his best to "go off" in about 20cm squared. Bizarre but they didn't miss a beat and played "Carry Stress In The Jaw" note-for-note.

* Courtney Love getting bitten by a bug during a Hole set, and walking off to get medical attention, pissing off everyone. To be fair, Australian bugs are pretty goddamn nasty. They eat birds, you know.

* Some guy in the audience while I was watching Murderdolls was giving the band shit. The band stopped their song and invited the guy to come onstage to get his head kicked in, in very colourful language. Scary because the guy was right behind me and for one moment I thought maybe the guy was talking to me instead because he seemed to be pointing right at me. In fact, maybe he was because I looked around for the other guy and didn't see him.

* Motley Crue training a video camera on the audience, projected onto the back wall of the venue, and trying to get the girls in the audience to take off their tops. No takers. They also blew up the PA that night. Watching the band perform in near-silence for about four minutes with full light show, gymnastics etc before they realised what had happened to their sound system was one of the most surreal sights I've ever seen.

There's probably more but that will do for now. Best bands I've ever seen live, probably the aforementioned Beastie Boys and also Rancid, both incredible.

I've seen a few, but the best would have to be Pendulum - Saw them at Download 2009, in Edinburgh in March 2010 and Aberdeen in December 2010. Every time it's been insane.
