Maybe it doesn't really count here but the musical Wicked (soon to be a major motion picture) has a kind of grey ending where the bad guy does technically win. Guess it depends on the viewer but i took it as a win for the bad guys.

Rec 1 or 2 out of curiosity?

I'd say 28 weeks later, Night of the living dead (kinda) and The Mist hard to pick to be honest. trying to decide between "bad guys win" and "good guys die" That and all the best have been picked so far. I would argue with reservoir seeing that nobody really won. Full Metal Jacket deserves a mention too so does Arlington road. It's a weird list actually. It should be "Protagonist loses"

Genghis.Sure we mostly know the story of Genghis Khan. And we all know that we would consider him the bad guy.Well this movie is more about him being the good guy.And in the end he wins the war but looses his life.
I saw that movie when I was 5,and I was hardly interested. But I still remember how it ended.

Which reminds me, The Blair Witch Project had more or less the same outcome (as well as the same "first-person camera" technique).

Nobody mentioned Reservoir Dogs or The Usual Suspects? Seriously, those are two of the best movies ever!
I was reading this thread and thinking: "I can't believe I'll be the first to mention The Usual Suspects!" Well, after all I wasn't. But it sure took a long time to appear. That movie should have been the first one mentioned in this thread.

What do you mean by bad guy? Some could argue that robin hood was a bad guy.
Great movies where the *antagonist* wins?
Great movies where the protagonist is evil?

Although you could have a serious discussion about who the good or bad guys really are. Or about who actually won in the end.
100% agreed.
In the end, I'd say the *only* winner is Bad Horse. Everybody either lost horribly, or lost as much as they gained and broke even. Bad horse, on the other hand, started out with the Evil League of Evil under his hoof and ended with The Evil League of Evil + A Dr. Horrible who has lost his humanity. That condition, given Bad Horse's desire for him to commit murder, is a positive rather than a negative trait and thus he is categorically better for the events of the show.

Edit
He is also categorically a 'bad guy' given that he leads an organization called the 'evil league of evil' is nicknamed 'the thoroughbred of sin', desires murder to be committed. There is no evidence (in the movie anyway) that suggests there is any gray area with Bad Horse.

I'd say it's a 50/50 split in The Great Escape - some POWs get out, some get sent back to the camp and some are shot. But I guess they were just trying to distract Nazis, so I guess they won...

Dawn of the Dead (newer one w/ Ving Rames) because they all die at the end when they get to the island and I guess you can count the zombies as the villains. Or maybe the heroes just lost. I'm not giving up on this yet...

I'd call Gladiator a draw since Russell Crowe kills the villain but then he dies as well.

How about that one Superman cartoon movie where he gets killed?

Butch Cassidy and the Sun Dance Kid. They aren't really bad guys, but doing what they did makes them pretty douchy (douchey?) in my opinion.

There's even a tvtrope!

I dunno I thought it was more of a stale mate. Batman cancelled out the Joker.
The Joker actually won overall. He corrupted Gotham's figurehead and turned him into a chance-obsessed psychopath who murdered people at the toss of a coin. He also transformed the city's love of Batman into hate, and forced Batman to take responsibility for killing Harvey Dent, effectively turning a superhero into a wanted murderer.
bingo.

Scarface. Everyone is pretty much bad, so ultimately a bad guy has to win.

Don't hear about it anymore though, I thought it was awesome.

Just realised the SIth win in both the second movies of the triologies.
