Teachers tend to get a bad rap, especially while you're still at school, I certainly had some godawful ones!

However I still remember my maths teacher was extremely good, and pushed me and others to excel, instead of just letting everyone trundle along at one pace.

Anyways, I saw this guy over on B3ta, and I was very impressed, and think the kids he's taking time out to teach physics to got real lucky!

I think if you can both be enthusiastic about your subject and share that feeling with your audience, you'll generally pass on more of your knowledge than someone who just casually runs thru the books as intended.

Anyways, take a look if you're interested, he's like Doc from Back to the Future, crossed with Emo Phillips. I can't believe I voluntarily watching a 17 minute lecture about physics and stayed to the end.

He made a fine point about how he doesn't want to talk about a lot of stuff he's done before as 'the first time you do something, its science, the second time, its engineering, the third time, its just work for a technician, I'm a scientist I want to do new things!'

Note that a fair chunk of B3ta can tend towards the NSFW, however this link is ok.

Very decent of you, I thought it was a quite interesting topic and hadn't been done before, but it appears no-one has a good word for their teachers, heh.

Come on, lets have a bit of positivity out there!

I like my Spanish professor (Mr. Barański - I think you can translate that name to "Sheeper") a lot, even though his classes are difficult and challenging, it's never boring.

Unlike my other Spanish teacher, Mrs Król (Mrs King ;d that's why we call her "Queen"). It's so God damn boring... But hey, it was about being positive, right?

I also find my class' priest to be a very open-minded person. He doesn't talk a lot about religion, but instead, he has discussions about politics (a little), our system, music, art, human rights... And even today I've found out that he listens to pop, rock, metal, classic music and even symphonies.

And, what's a bit scary, he confessed that he listened to satanistic songs on few occasions, just so he can talk about them from his own experience.

I believe that the math teacher has two settings.
A. Fun to learn from and interactive or
B. Hates the world and wants to strangle anyone in it.

I know this because I've had both.

I've had one great science teacher when I was 12-13. He was great at making, at least me, interested and well he was a big nerd. I always had great times correcting things he said becuase he simplified things as almost all science teachers do. And a couple of years late he became the GM for a couple of friends of mine when we started roleplaying...

Ive also had two great math teachers who both made math even more fun and interesting.

The Clifford Stole guy in the video tho, I could watch him for hours, in the same way, to an extent that I can watch Top Gear and Fantasy Football League, despite having zero interest in cars and football.

Show enough enthusiasm in a topic, and you'll draw people in. Clifford Stole seems to be so wanting to share all his knowledge that he can't get it all out, and keeps leaping from topic to topic, a tornado of information whirling around the stage. Add that to the fact that he actually makes glass jars made out of two mobius strips, therefore creating a bottle without an inside and zero capacity, and just the fact that he seems to find almost everything fascinating, just keeps me watching.
