For the lulz
Once again, for the lulz.

Now I'd say Clint Eastwood but someone ninja'd me. Also please don't take this too seriously, it's purely light-hearted but I still do think those 4 actors are amazing.

It's so hard to pass up Morgan Freeman and Christopher Lee on this one, but I'm gonna have to go with...Edward Norton.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!

I meant Edward Norton in Fight Club and American History X!
Clearly, this shall require me to change my vote to...Michael C Hall, possibly?

Death to Smoochy was actually a work of art. It's one of the classics of comedy that most don't get. It't one of those thats on the same level of Life aquatic, and the Royal Tenenbaums.

I'll have to check it out then. Clearly I've fallen into the age-old cliche of judging a movie by its picture of Edward Norton in a pink dinosaur outfit.

Agreed. Death to Smoochy was a great bit of acting. Actually, Norton was at his best (in my own opinion) in Primal Fear. Not as good of a movie as any mentioned of his prior, but Norton's work in it is stellar.

And, off the subject of Ed Norton, lest my eyes deceive me, I don't think Bobby DeNiro has been mentioned...for shame. (unless I breezed over it, in which case, sorry for doubting you).

Tom Hanks.

Between Philadelphia, Forest Gump, and Saving Private Ryan he had some incredible roles, not to mention his other films.

Actual acting ability, I'd say Marlon Brando. Gary Oldman isn't bad. I'm a big fan of Daniel Day-Lewis.

But I tend to notice the work of a great director more than that of the actor alone (of course ideally you get great actors and director). Coen brothers, Terry Gilliam, and Kubrick just to name a few.

This man.

YOU CANNOT DENY.
Was just watching House... Gotta admit, he's an amazing actor.
I don't really care about actors. Right now I'm inclined to say this guy, since I was just watching the show. If I go watch Pirates Of The Carribean I'll say Johnny Depp. If I go watch any movie with Jim Carrey, I'll say him. Austin Powers, I'll say Mike Myers (three roles!). You get my point.

Johnny Depp. The guy's got massive range.
Really? Have you seen the Pirate movies, Alice in Wonderland, or perhaps Sweeny Todd? All horrible movies ruined further by the duo of Depp and Burton. Depp was once okay at best during his younger years of Scissor hands, and Whats eating gilbert grape. However you know your a bad actor when A young Leonardo DiCaprio can out act you in playing an Autistic kid. DiCaprio's role in that movie flexes more range then Depp has in his entire career.
Well see the problem with your argument is that I love his performance in Alice and Pirates (haven't seen Sweeney Todd). I agree he was also good in Edward Scissorhands, haven't seen Gilbert Grape, liked him in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He does insane so well. And he's just awesome. Of course, I'm bias cause I like Depp and Burton. Of course, you're bias cause you don't.
