What are the greatest comic book series you ever read. They don't need to be graphic novels or limited series. There may be, for instance, a number of issues of an ongoing title that is identifiable, such as the Batman Joker Fish series with Silver Saint Cloud, or the American Gothic series where Swamp Thing first meets Constantine.

For me, both of those rate. Also:
Watchmen;
The first several Miracle Man issues;
Daredevil/Bullseye/Kingpin stories by Frank Miller
The Gwen Stacy Clone Spiderman vs. Jackal series
Kingdom Come graphic novels with art by Alex Ross

For you?

Ive only read some manga...

If that counts it would have to be the Zatch Bell one easily, that was awesome.

Haven't read comics in ages (Besides random Batman and the Mass Effect 4 piece). I did re-read Parasyte recently though... pretty good manga.

The Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. Such an amazing series, especially the stories about Hell closing down.

Other than that, V for Vendetta and The Watchmen are noteworthy as great works.

The only proper superhero story I really enjoyed was the Death and Return of Superman.

Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai

Mainly old Japanese samurai tales or fables told with a recurring character as the protagonist.

Oh, and he's a samurai rabbit.

I forgot about V and Sandman. I only read a graphic novel collection of stories, the best being about a man that has kidnapped a Muse. Really great stuff. I also forgot Moore's Extraordinary Gentlemen. The movie was meh, but the series was terrific.

Watchmen, easily the best I've ever seen. It beats anything else, because there's noone with rediculous superpowers who is extremely good(manhattan has no ethics), and some characters I can not hate, but never get comfortable around. It's incredibly immersive and I've read it at least 12 times. I'm a fan.

Also, the movie was awesome and maybe even one of the best movies of all time.

All of those. Sandman especially is brilliant.

I also much enjoyed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I recommend the 'Old Man Logan' series, the not too distant future for the world and superheroes gone to shit.

Is it similar to Kingdom Come? The idea there is that there are so many super powered beings having super fights that civilization is endangered. Humans are trying to figure out what to do with them all.

Nah, Kingdom Come was (IMO), of Watchmen epic proportion, this was only about 8 issues, smaller in scope. Wolverine is a burn out (totally justifiable when you find out why) and the Hulk's inbred, redneck offspring run the territory Logan now resides. Some of the story's best points are reveals without too much exposition e.g. Ant-Mans huge skeleton with roads running between the bones, all your ever told is the good guys lost. I think one of the best things though is Logan acts like Logan, not the typical 'bubblegum-bullshit-has-claws-but-never-guts-anyone' comic book guy! He's gruff but principled, dark yet struggling.

Give it a shot, it's sets up for an interesting sequel.
