Now I won't claim to know all that much about how much work goes into video games, how many people it takes to make one cutscene, or how much coding goes into the ability to crouch, but I do know that simply because a small amount of people use a feature in your game doesn't mean you should just take it out.

GRID 2 has gathered some decently positive reviews, but one issue I've seen, and have come to have a concern with, is that they took out the cockpit view. They claim it was because only about 5% of players ever used it, and that having higher resolution texture in the car would decrease performance. I'd like to call BS.

For one, how are they getting these statistics? Everyone I know that plays racing games use the cockpit view, either permanently or only in certain cars. Even my younger brother, who doesn't even like racing games all that much, uses the cockpit view over the out of car camera.
Also, how is a few extra textures on the inside of a car going to decrease performance in a way that it can't be worked out? Is it those stupid crowds they have in the game? Because I don't remember anyone asking for more realistic crowd people in their racing games...

I mean, this is a game company that has switched over to strictly making racing games. How does that sound correct when they are removing features that have become almost standard in most modern racing games?

You can tell me I'm being nit-picky all you want, but I can't help thinking it doesn't sound right to remove a simple camera perspective in a racing game, that you have decided to solely create, because only a small portion of your players use it.

I guess thank goodness for PC modders, since they seem to be making great progress in adding cockpit views into the game. Otherwise, it's not a bad racing game at all, even if I did find myself becoming rather bored with it faster than other racing games I've played.
