"And so it was on the 1385th day of development that a messenger of the Lord appeared to Crate Entertainment and said unto them, ?You hath labored well and faithfully and now, at long last, thou shalt releaseth thy Grim Dawn Alpha upon the world, if it is good?. And so then did Crate know that alpha should be released, for the alpha seemed good to the. And thus they issued forth emails to the people of Humble Store and to the people of Valve saying unto them ?Lo, I doth beseech you now to make good all preparations in accordance that Grim Dawn Alpha may be released with due haste!?

After a fairly lengthy wait, some of the fruits of labour by Crate Entertainment (formed from Iron Lore refugees) will soon be available to those who have helped fund their epic journey via Pre-orders and Kickstarter.

The Alpha will go up around 10am and 12pm Eastern Time on May 15th via Steam.

Awesome news!

Really anticipating the final release.
Maybe/hopefully it will be out in time for Christmas.

The Alpha is now available to download via Steam if you've backed the game.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to stare at a progress bar for an hour or so.

Tohuvabohu

Not entirely serious, maybe.

I wish I backed this game when I had the chance, I've been following it since way before the kickstarter.

I'm glad they ended up getting the funding they needed, and happier to see they finally got an alpha available. I wonder how much longer this would've taken them if they never tried to get funding. But progress does seem to be slow, even with the funding.

I'm curious to know how it is. As far as ARPG's go, I've got hopes for this one. (D3 was a letdown, I just can't seem to get into Torchlight 2) I really liked Titan Quest so I hope this one will turn out good in the end.

Damn. I guess its back to Path of Exile for my arpg fix until Grim Dawn is available from someplace other than steam. I just refuse to allow 3rd party software on my pc.

don't fret too quickly

From their FAQ [http://www.grimdawn.com/about_faq.php]

Will Grim Dawn use DRM that TOTALLY screws me over?!
No, you can purchase from our website through Humble Store and then download a DRM-free version from them. You won't have to go online to activate it once you've downloaded it. We only authenticate game-keys when / if you log into a multiplayer match-making service. You can play single player or LAN offline.
I literally didn't hear about this until curiosity lead me to click this thread. Consider me another teammate from the Escapist when this comes out.
