Thats Sony allright, remember when they said that the GTA Online save transfer was only on the PS4? Even worse, in that presentation the only system mentioned, even in the trailer, was only the PS4. Out of the presentation alone it looked like GTAV would only release on PS4.

It's quite straightforward to get the original running on any modern OS. You need ResidualVM: http://residualvm.org/
And... the game data.

ResidualVM is clever stuff - unlike ScummVM, it performs reverse engineering on the original code on the fly, rather than trying to emulate the hardware of yore. This means (hurray!) the strange people who prefer OSX or Linux can enjoy it on their favourite Apple-based product or 1998 laptop as well.

I have to say I was not impressed with the re-mastered Baldur's Gate series so I hope DF can do more than just make it work natively on modern OSs. It shouldn't be too much work to rebuild the sets and characters, essentially starting from scratch but using the original dialogue and music assets. If it amounts to just a resolution update and some bug fixes I will be somewhat disappointed. Here's hoping it's a proper reboot...

I can certainly support and update to the engine, and maybe tweaks regarding usability and the like (the control scheme wasn't the smoothest).

But I fear that recasting voice actors and redoing the story might be going too far (If they actually do that).

I certainly support the notion that it'd be better to get a new story in the same setting than try and redo a game that, despite needing some work to run on modern systems, holds up perfectly to this day (mostly because the story and voice acting age very well).

I never got to play Grim Fandango and I am going to jump on it like I would on a jacuzzi filled with Nutella and a naked Katy Perry on it.

And I really, really, REALLY want Full Throttle next. Up to this day, everytime I see that intro ("when I think of Maureen, I think of two things... Asphalt and trouble") I get goosebumps. Best videogame intro EVER in my opinion!

Funny thing: searching an old drawer in my place the other night I found out I own TWO copies of Full Throttle. I have no idea of how it happened...

Cool, but still dissapointed that they left out the ps3, i would have bought it instantly.
I'm not. It makes me hopeful that this version will be a proper point-and-click, like Telltale's earlier games. The original control scheme was an utter disaster, and one of the reasons I'm glad LucasArts stopped making adventure games not long after.

The good news is that this will probably also run just fine on whatever computer you have. Even if they have proper in-engine backgrounds, there's only so many visual bells and whistles they could possibly add without it not looking like Grim Fandango anymore, and it's not like a super-high framerate is strictly necessary.

I'm just hoping the Linux version actually works this time; I still haven't gotten Brütal Legend to run.

I'd love this, but for some reason I'd rather have a remastered version also, or maybe just the remastered... I dunno why though.

I didn't say it was a remake.
Which is exactly the problem, Vault101 means that this game is a "remake" not a remastered version. It even says "REMAKE" righ in the title.
The title is wrong, it's a remastered version, as they stated during the announcement (and also in this article).
Thanks! For a moment I thought I said something wrong on the Internet. That would've been embarrassing.

I guess I just blocked out the word "Remake" because it didn't make sense. Having to re-record all the excellent dialogue would've made no sense and the characters are supposed to look like paper dolls anyway.

That would be very cool but no LucasArts games have ever been released on GoG I think. People have been clamoring for the original Monkey Island games to be put up on it for years but no dice. I imagine that, just like Monkey Island 1 & 2, we'll probably have to settle for Steam.

Might get the best of both worlds like the Special Editions of Monkey Island 1 & 2, a remake but with an optional "classic mode" that restores the original graphics and music.

Oooooh this is exciting. The chance to enjoy this game again but without the need to download a separate program to fill my CPU cycles with junk and throttle it by 99.9%.

THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!

Seriously, this is way long overdue. Now if we can get a remake and possible finishing of Anachronox I can declare inner peace.

I'm not sure how that would change anything as it's coming to the PS4 and Vita, dunno how a ps3 version could ruin anything...
But i agree that the control shceme sucked, but you should be able to change that even on a ps3, the Monkey Island 1-2 ports worked perfectly on ps3^^.

I tried Monkey Island with my controller just now. It's... pretty kludgy. I don't really blame other developers for not thinking it's up to snuff. Granted, it would have been better if LucasArts could have been bothered to recognize the analog aspect of the analog stick instead of just mapping it to four binary directional movements.
