Well I've been wanting to experiment with new sub-genres in metal and i heard that grindcore is pretty good.

Any recommendations? Any opinions? Share 'em here.

Grindcore is not a genre of metal. It is a fusion of Thrash Punk and Metalkore. That is a sub-genre of punk and a sub-genre of Hardcore but that's just a nit-pick. Its not really my thing, but I don't know your taste in music so just look up some stuff and see if you like it.

OMG YA D00d Bring mE Teh HorZIzun n WakIng Teh CadAbRa is s000 br000tal lolz.

No, but I am partial to a bit of grind, IMO Discordance Axis are pretty much the best pure grind band out there but it's also worth checking out Phobia, Yacopsae (might not be grind), Napalm Death, Swans and Siege.

Oh yeah and The Locust, but all tr00 grind fans hate them. I however absolutely LOVE them.

Nasum, Exhale, Impending Doom. Nasum especially, one of the greatest grindcore bands of all time.

napalm death and carcass are pretty good, though there is an awful lot of grindcore bands out there. If you like something that just takes the proverbial out of the genre, look for excrementory grindfuckers. Theres a lot of their stuff on youtube.

I have to ask, who was this person that told you Grindcore is good..?
A person who liked Grindcore obviously =D
To each his own I suppose, I can't stand Grindcore.
With the exception of Carcass.

I remember a thread about this before. (I'm not deja Nazi-ing, don't hate me yet) I asked what on earth grindcore was. Now it has come around again. I still don't really know.

Only people who like it do, other people abuse the term to describe anything they think is too heavy/loud/too much screaming.

It's actually a fusion of punk, metalcore, and sometimes death metal, but done in a fast, frenzied, extreme way. Songs usually don't pass the one minute mark, and albums usually last like 20 minutes. It's definately not for everyone. Usually grindcore albums get bad reviews (especially if it's from The Locust) because well.. people really don't get it.

A good grindcore band I've started liking this year is See You Next Tuesday. The Locust is also amazing (Especially Plague Soundscapes). Napalm Death is also awesome. Even their latest material is great. There's also good deathgrind out there too, like Aborted and Devourment. I might think of more if I post in this thread again.

Are we calling The Locust grindcore these days? I likes 'em, I've heard them described as a lot of different things but not really grindcore.

It's not really one of those genres I'm ever gonna be crazy about, but Nasum are well worth checking out.

The only thing close to Grindcore I can listen to for long is Cattle Decapitation, and they have a rabid fanbase...but everyone outside of it says their instrumentation doesn't fit together so well. I'm not picky. Anal **** are pretty much regarded as the fathers of Grindcore. May wanna check them out.
