The only thing close to Grindcore I can listen to for long is Cattle Decapitation, and they have a rabid fanbase...but everyone outside of it says their instrumentation doesn't fit together so well. I'm not picky. Anal **** are pretty much regarded as the fathers of Grindcore. May wanna check them out.
AxCx aren't really grindcore anymore, they're really more noisecore if you've ever seen any live videos it's obvious.

There is this thing about grindcore which I just don't quite get.

I know the whole brutal sound thing might appeal to some, (I like brutal tech death occasionally), but why does the genre itself have to be brutal? Ive browsed a few grindcore bands sites and all CD covers, t-shirts and whatever merch they are selling is just plastered with immature pictures of gore and whatnot. I mean why? How about instead of thinking about the next br00tal album cover, learn to play your a bit better.

Try and ignore my ignorance which pokes its head about in music threads.

Grindcore has it's own subgenre called goregrind, (I know, getting a bit ridiculous...) which is what the bands you have heard sometimes get classified as. Some non goregrind bands include Napalm Death, Exhale, Nasum... (That's the third time I've mentioned Nasum. They were so fucking awesome.)

I try to stay away from goregrind, just some of the song titles make me sick. Goregrind was started as a joke and experimentation by Carcass. Well if they weren't joking they need to be locked up...

as a choir singer, listening to other people destroying there vocal cords hurts. I really dont get the appeal of these bands. If I were you, OP, I'd stick to regular metal, but to each his own. The Locust isn't that bad, but apperently they are not "tr00" grindcore.

Oh right, thanks for clearing that up. Seems there might be alot for me to learn about all the sub-genres of grindcore.

Who is Paracoccidioiomicosisprostitissarcomucosis?
You didn't by chance mean Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis, did you?
Sorry for the grammar nazi, I just searched it on Google and Google corrected me :p

On topic: Carcass. The only Grindcore-ish band I have ever kind of liked.

IMO this whole music genre variety is going a tad too far.
I mentioned that once to a co-worker and his response was, to loosely paraphrase, "you have to remember that these terms are coming from people who do nothing but right about music all the time. They have to make it interesting somehow."

Or something to that effect.
