Have you ever ben grounded?
If so how did you go about becoming grounded?

I just got in and after a short talk with my parents ended up being grounded for smoking when infact i hadn't. It really gets at me when you are blamed for something you havn't done, where is the justice in the world?

For you older Escapians who have children, have you ever grounded your child? If so what for and was there a liable reason for doing so?

I got grounded for lying to my parents in 4th grade. I ended up costing them $500. The punishment was I had to give them $500 and then was grounded for 5 months from everything electronic. That blew ass. Although, I've been grounded loads of times where my sister has done the same things and hasn't been grounded yet. I was the guinea pig obviously.

I got grounded once. I got a "C" On a report card. It was for life, or until they forgot. They forgot. Completely justified in my opinion.

One must assume they had a reason to believe you were smoking, perhaps its your fault for not putting your case forward to convince them otherwise eloquently enough.

My older brother and I were the guinea pigs of the four children. My younger sister and brother got it a hell of a lot easier in regards to punishments and having to go to bed and whatnot. Do tell how you cost your parents $500 though.

I have been grounded once or twice, mostly for fighting. Well, I say fighting, it was more scrapping. Boys-will-be-boys and whatnot.

lol another thread practically made for me. I was the "problem child" of the family, and so was grounded lots. As a rough example, I was grounded in second grade for taking my dinobot toy into school when I wasn't supposed to. It cost me two weeks of freedom, but showing off Slag was worth it.

Nope, never been grounded in my life, though I think having your dad yell in your face sometimes about the tiniest things (like holding my fork weirdly) or just sounding exasperated at me like I always do what I just did is worse.

Nothing gets your gut than a parent "disapointed" at you or acting like they expected you to do what you did in a "disapointed" way.

Got shipped to boarding school, so I guess you could say I was grounded for 4 years. Managed to have some fun though.

Very stupid reason: I was in the intramural orchestra and hated it. My parents wouldn't let me quit so I just stopped going. I didn't realize that we were renting my instrument though. Turns out, at $100 a month and not going for 5 months, the money adds up. The worst part was that I realized this and eventually told my parents, ratting myself out. I learned a lesson lol.

I used to get grounded all the time.... I was a little shithead.

Usually, I got grounded for lying about what I did or didn't do. Thing was, my mom was unpredictable. If I told her something (like about getting detention), sometimes she'd go ballistic and yell for two hours, and sometimes she'd be cool about it. So, I just used to lie because that way there was a 75% chance I wouldn't catch hell about it, as opposed to the 50/50 chance if I told her.

So, my Mom basically made me a sneaky jerk in adult life.

Grounding me in my youth and teenage years would've been a complete exercise in pointlessness, since I never went anywhere or did anything. Result of living in a boring town and being quite content to sit around playing video games, kicking a ball around the garden or watching TV, I suppose.

It drives me insane how pissed off your parents can get for the most insignificant shit like that. When I was a lot younger I used to start off conversations at the dinner table that had no link to whatever people were talking about before, my dad used to get pissed off to no end for that. >_>

I never got grounded.
My dad came from a really conservative family and he hated it so much he swore he would not raise his son like his family raised him. So instead of groundings and spankings he just gives me the worst possible guilt trips about everything.

A lot like Jumplion's case, he just made me feel really bad about myself.

But for the most part I am a good boy, I go to my practices and maintain my 4.0 and honors classes. (not to brag)

It was a couple years ago, but his main complaint was that when I get a girlfriend and go to her house to meet the parents, the parents would look at how I eat/hold my fork and start making horrible judgments at me. While it is true I was to make a good first impression on the parents, I don't think how I hold my fork would matter much >_>;

He also complained once as to how I put my socks on.

Oh, how my pillow has many a' tear stains in it.

Table manners are generally important, I suppose, however assuming that you don't eat by shoving your face into your food and biting at the plate like some sort of lion you'd probably be okay.

And my mother complained as to how I put my socks on too ;/

Yeah, when I used to live at home my parents used to do the exact same thing. However this extrememly backfired because it got to the point where I used to not even speak to my Dad incase he somehow threw anything back in my face. I still can't correctly speak to him to this day but if he tries to guilt me I just laugh.
