For those of you below 25, Groundhog's Day was a movie by Bill Murray about a guy who was stuck in a same town, repeating the same day over and over again. If he tried to commit suicide he just wakes up again in the morning, eventually he makes use of the time to improve himself by learning piano and studying medicine. Also there's a girl involved.

Question, if a Groundhog's Day lasted for 1000 years, would you volunteer for it? Also what would you do given the chance? Would it make a difference if there was a library or internet in the town you're stuck in?

Maybe not for 1000 years but definitely for some time. The chance for self improvement would be great. I don't think i wold learn medicine though. Probably history, or guitar. And yes library and internet would be a must. And a pub!

Hell no I wouldn't volunteer for it. I don't want to live 1000 years normally, let alone repeating the same day over and over.

First of all, Groundhog Day happens to be in my "Top 5 Movies of All-Time".
Second of all, no. A world where you can't affect anything and only can work on improving yourself is torture, kinda like a *horrible metaphor alert* single-player MMORPG.
EDIT: Also, in the film, it lasted for about ten years I think.

I guess I'd do what he did.

1. Feel disbelief. Weirded out for a couple of days.
2. Try to weasel my way out of it (not doing the segment, leaving town, renting Groundhog Day and do exactly what he did, etc.)
3. Explore, discover, find what I can do...
4. Do What I Want! Nothing's Off Limits! Par-Tay!!!
5. Boredom, depression, suicide...
6. Out of boredom, try helping people. Surprised when it finally works.

I wouldn't volunteer, but doing it might be useful. If nothing else, it'd give me time to learn more and do more.

1000 years is too long. I would limit it to one year, than I would want time to continue normally. I a lot of incredible stupid ideas I would try. The only reason I don't try them now is due to this annoying 'death' thing.

I would take part in a groundhog day deja vu-athon for a century at the most. Any longer than that and I would deffinetly go insane. I could go insane after 5 days but 100 years would certainly be my limit break.

I would use my time to do all sorts of stuff, learning new things most of all. Imagine a full century to do nearly anything you dreamed of. It would be awesome.
