2009 sucks
I agree 09 and 10 sound like bad years. I'm very excited for 2011 it just FEELS like a good year. My hunches are usually pretty good.
Then I will hold you to that!
If 2011 does not deliver, I will find you...

Oh.. it WILL deliver.. for me, I think 2010 and 2012 will be more of your years, but 2009 will still suck.

Same, for me its on the cards for a crap 2009 and 2010 but 2011... after a terrible start to that year, then we get half way through... anything can happen at that point and surely things can get no worse than now?

But then 2012 London Olympics, a whole year on bloody London and the fecking Olympics. I live in England so that year is going to be completely annoying, thankfully a World Cup (soccer) will drown out the babbling about swimming, running 100 metres and so forth. Anyway, if life is good I won't mind about that. Yeh... 2011, here's looking at you kid.. err year, w/e.

And don't you just know the year 3009 will probably be the most awesome year of all time? Smug futuristic bastards.

I think it depends entirely on the type of year you've had. If it's been a shitty year (as 2008 was for me) then generally I was looking forward to the new year, for a clean slate, and a fresh start. It all depends on your circumstance I guess.

Bah, more cynicism. A new year is a new possibility.

Today, I'm going to have to go to bed early, probably before the ball drops.
Tomorrow, I'm going to have to wake up early (around 6-7ish if I'm lucky), and then spend all day calibrating sensitive medical equipment in a lonely office.
And I'm 22 years old.

Yes, this New Year's is going to rule all right -_-. But hey, at least I'm getting paid for doing this (unlike last time, when all I received were vaccinations). And it's going to fund my vagabonding experience, wandering the globe in 3 months, so I'm actually glad to do this.

So this year is looking up? I guess. :)

It's never really been a big thing for me, aside from the Twilight Zone marathon on Sci-Fi. Really, it's the only reason I bother staying up.

Never been to a New Year's party in my life, and this year has been no different, despite my tenacious attempts to change that. And now I am filled with undue angst. Next year, that may change, what with being in college and all.

2009 holds many possibilities for me, as well as great risks. It'll be the year where I gain much more control over my life. Whether I'll be able to handle that control, remains a mystery to me.

Well the show is on BBC 2 (UK) now and I was wondering:
Am I the only person here that doesn't get any great pleasure in the new year?
I mean, it's just another year, one closer to your death and ultimately the destruction of the universe... disappointment anyone?
Bah-humbug.
This is exactly how I feel. Same thing with my birth day too. It seems like no one ever understands that though...

No TV, few memories of good NYE celebrations. This year I'm spending it alone in a climate too cold for my tastes to venture out.

However NYE is a reminder for me of the new chances I have. It's a reminder of my age the same way every new 'high score' I make serves as a reminder of my skills and experiences.

Well Ive had a pretty dreadful year, it all went downhill when I started being greedy last year, Greedy for money I got involved with con artists, greedy for notoriety I was accused of arson and fired from my place of work, greedy for cheese I now discover I am lactose intolerant to a huge degree, nothing is ever enough for me and that is what leads to the poop hitting the fan in no uncertain terms.

Now that I am possesion of this life changing notion will it be used, no! It will lurk in a box next to my Wii Fit. So will 2009 be anything other than a grand disappointment I doubt it hugely, as I am still unemployed with no useful qualifications in a recession where most employers want up to two years provable work history as they can afford to be picky these days...... That and my Driving instructor course seems to be a massive money making scam.

But at least despite my best efforts I havent yet ballsed up my marriage, but I suppose there will be time yet!

Grumpy new year indeed

Birthdays aren't too much better. Last year I didn't do anything special, I had a couple of friends over to have a couple of drinks. This year seeing as it's my 18th, my mum is taking me to Liverpool for a weekend as I'm gonna go Uni there. I only ever buy gifts for my family, but I do go to parties and wish people happy birthday seeing as everybody else celebrates their birthdays big style.
