I don't really care anymore. I have F1 2010 now, so if I feel the need for speed and don't want to play Shift, then I've got F1 or Dirt or Dirt 2 (I wish I still had Grid but it vanished lol)

The game doesn't even seem that appealing anymore. From what I gather, Forza is what it's all about now a days on the racing scene.

GTA? This is about Gran Turismo, lol.

We're talking about Gran Turismo, not Grand Theft Auto.

OT: Couldn't really care less. I don't own a PS3. I am, on the other hand, quite curious as to what new they're going to do with Forza 4. [sub]I really hope they'll implement weather- and time of day settings this time 'round...[/sub]
oh yeah, miss read it. my bad.

the amount of different it makes that it's Gran Turismo is...none at all. still don't care in the slightest

You know, in the length of time this game has taken to come out, you could have learned to race actual cars?

I do race real cars, unfortunately I can't afford to take a Porsche GT3 around the Nurburgring. If you can help me out with that please let me know!!

You've had more than enough time to pursue sponsorships and make your fortune. No excuses, man.

A delayed game is good eventually, a rushed game is bad forever. If I was a betting man, I'd say they are working on Move support.

Considering the massive amount of content it has, I doubt it will disappoint. It will render Forza obsolete (GT5 has more of everything) and either Japanese or European people will dominate the high score list.

I'm honestly thinking Sony said "fuck it, Duke Nukem Forever's finally coming out, so let's create the NEW vaporware that'll never come out."
Something's gotta be the new industry laughing stock.

This game cost Polyphony $60,000,000. Twice the amount most triple A grade games cost to make. I know GT is easily the one of the PS3s biggest franchises and will inevitably be one of the best driving games of all time however I just can't think how are they going to make any money with this game..... apart from a never ending stream of DLC.

Again, no genre, short of an RPG, can possible be worth this wait. I'm still gonna buy it and like it, but I'll know that it's really not going to be as good as it should be after all this freaking time. I played the new demo on a PS3 kiosk, too.
Oh, believe me, for racing fans, pretty much any wait is justified for polish and additional content.

I, for once, don't mind - I want to play it bad but the market is saturated - there are games to hold me over.

I think you'll find delayed games are usually pretty average (at best), especially when they are delayed this long. Technology moves on, people move on.

GT5 died a long time ago. Why people are even still interested in it, I do not know.

The following preview will show that unlike 3D Realms, Polyphony hasn't been spending all this time watching cartoons.

Also note the 1000+ cars, track editor, and more stuff I don't feel like mentioning.

Except for awesome decal minigames. GT doesn't have more of those, as far as I know. And of course it will render Forza obsolete. Forza 3 came out a year ago: It's already old. You know the next installment in the Forza series is going to be released in 2011, right? (A bit early, if you ask me. I think they should at least implement weather settings)

Don't you think it's a bit early to say GT5 has "more of everything" and is definitely better, when the game isn't out yet? I think we should wait until the game is actually out before making such definitive statements.

It is unknown what sort of visual customization GT5 will have, but Forza does have a good system. I liked Need For Speed's slider molding gimmick that they introduced in Carbon better though (I think it was called autosculpt or something).

But GT5 does have more cars, more tracks, more race types, custom track generator, etc. To match the amount of content GT5 has, the next Forza will have to be one at least 5 discs (DVD's hold about 4gb, Blu-Ray can hold upwards of 80 gb).
But I will admit GT4 was kinda bloated, a lot of the cars were very very similar (they had a lot of Honda Civics that were only different in the year, for exmaple). A good chunk were also kinda pointless (the Jay Leno car that you can't use in a race).

I haven't heard anything of more racetypes...

You do know Forza has a race-customization option? You can play stuff like tag and cat and mouse on there.

And as you say, it is unknown what kind of visual customization GT5 will have. That's why I figure it is unneccessary to discuss it.

Years of delays=/=valid improvement. 1000+ cars is ridiculous, since nobody uses anything but the top-end in any given style of racing.

Plus, the more they delay this, the more they have to add in regards to new cars, prototypes, etc. Ridiculous.

Aaand there's the fanboyism. DVDs hold 8~ GB of data, since we almost unanimously use dual-layer. Same goes for blu-ray, which currently holds a maximum of around 50GB, not 80.

Isn't GT the series that everytime it's delayed they take a feature away from it? I could've sworn that happened the last two or three games from it.
