GTA4 was a bit too serious, even a bit moralistic. GTA5 must have even more crazy humour and shock value. My idea is it should be in the middle of america on the border to mexico, it could be a rip off of texas or somewhere south. Dallas as the biggest city, a lot of small towns, and some cities in mexico too.

Controversial themes should include politics, immgration across the borders, smuggling of drugs/people, mexican drugcartels, yakuza, nationalism, extreme right religious nuts, government conspiracies, the military, cia, terrorists, poverty and american foreign policy. The main antagonist is a desillusioned marine returning from the war in iraq starting to do dirty jobs for a ruthless oil mogul. The whole setting should be a crazy caricature on an america divided in two.

As for practical gameplay, there should be a ton of missions all the time. Moral choices must be made all the time. Less socializing, at least not as it was in GTA4.

A zombie outbreak sometime during the game is an amazing idea. It could be part of a secret government population control experiment gone wrong. Actually it should become a big part of the main story.

Bring back the crazyness!

I have honestly (ludicrously) always wanted a Superhero.

I'm talking one vigilante bad-mama-jammer, who can't really be killed, but maybe who could be slightly hurt or slowed down... who either flies through the city, or bounces up and down building walls, but who... most importantly... has a car.

A really cool superhero car.

And that you can steal his car. And he will randomly pop up and try and fight you (with super strength) and get the car back.

I always thought that would be awesome.

Hey. GTA went totally real this time. Maybe next we'll get some silly again.

The 3 things I want in GTA

1. Zombies
2. The ability to rob banks like The Godfather. (Optional: Don't make it easy to get away)
3. Button Combo Cheat Codes (I can't come to the phone right now. I'M BEING SHOT AT!)

Why the fuck do ppl want gas to run out, it's called stealing another fuckin car, damn

At anyrate probably more overthetop missions, and to bring it back to it's fun, like VC, because that's why SR2 is more fun at this point, and please no fuckin escort missions or annoying friends

^ That?

Hell I'd buy a new console just to play a game where I can park on a chavs face and do wheelspins, decorating walls with shards of his empty skull.

That besides, I'd sure go for a new GTA London, or maybe even a GTA UK now, with roads leading to say Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow and Belfast airport, so you could instantly travel between the major cities. I pick those four as I believe they'd be the easiest to make interesting. Obviously I don't expect the whole of the UK put in the game, but a chunk of each sity replicated, with instant airport links would work.

Oh and PLEASE, better radio stations this time, I thought San Andreas had too much rap, and GTA4 just didnt grab me musically, despite loving almost everything else about it.

I seem to be in a minority of really enjoying how GTA4 was, tho perhaps I felt a bit too much in demand, when I just wanted to mess about, later learning you can turn your phone off to pause the storyline.

For me, Scarface did the build up of power beautifully, from a guy who's lost everything , stuck in a crummy apartment, to essentially owning Miami. One of the few GTA Clones that really did it well, also Mafia was excellent, looking forward to the sequel.
This for christ's sake. I want my accurate depiction of Britain and I want to be gattin' chavs NAO!

I think the devs of The Getaway did a very compelling story, much better than Rockstar could ever do, to the point where what I really want is 'The Getaway with better controls'. I even liked the idea of how you had to heal. Or better yet perhaps Volition should do a GTA 60's-70's style game, because they would do it far better and in a far more comic way (which I think would be fitting). GOD why did Rockstar have to ride the populace train and keep the settings gritty and realistic? They could have done something interesting with the IP(actually this reminds me of an overthinker/moviebob episode http://gameoverthinker.blogspot.com/2008/07/episode-ten-not-review-of-gta-iv.html )

And while we are at it how about they stop bumming the aspect of ultra gritty realism? Where GTA Cuba at? GTA chicago? (30s)

they need to make the hand to hand fighting at least semi-functional, and it would be cool if they did a CoD type of story line that you switch between playing the usual lowlife thug and playing as a cop who has to stop the thugs. Experience both sides of the law.

maybe...
-have a gang that you can create (design them, what guns they use, etc.)
-go from Poor to rich instead of poor-to moderatly wealthy
-make the police actually hard to get away from (i was able to get away just by pressing the drive button)
-be able to call your character (instead of GTA3-Nameless)(GTA-Vice City-tommy viceti?)
and CJ and Niko)

thats what i would like ^_^

I know how to make GTA better than ever before. Send the series into the sun and forget about it.

I think is time for a new GTA: London type game, or at least a fictional version of London. As SenceOfTumour said, i would love to kill some chav scum gangs. They could do a nice mix of the countryside and a major city which will add to the variation of terrain. Be nice to have roads that ain't just boring North American grid system also.

I don't understant people complaining about realism, i think GTAIV got the feeling right as was still tons of fun. I think they are just crying because they didn't get a framethrower or jetpack.

Music wise GTAIV was fine so just do another good job again, much better than the Hip hop shit that filled GTA:SA.

The game does need some more customisation in all areas tho and alot less babysitting of the other characters. More Internet stuff, the internet dating was pretty entertaining.

When it comes to a main character they could do a few things, i would like to see a female character for a change. Not a dumb blonde with big tits either but a smart but fallen off the rails kinda character or they could allow you to create your own which would be really interesting. Maybe this would weaken the story but it depends how they construct it. They could make it less linear and allow you to choose which gangs you wanted to work for and have different endings making it replayable.

And finally make a damn mission selector, once you complete a level it should give you an option to replay them again for fun.

*Edit*

Also i would love to see a singleplayer or coop (friends coming into the singleplayer to do it) version of Team Mafiya. That mode was amazing in GTAIV online and could be a great way of getting yourself into a gang or something.
I Agree.

Maybe the devolpers need some kind of new ideas and not just revamp San Andreas's gameplay.

Being able to have a little more freedom in how you do your mission. Like in far cry. Also make missions that makes you think a little more about how youre going to to it (again, far cry). Its pretty grating when the game tells you right away that youre supposed to shoot the tv- satellite dish to distract the enemy from the tv.

- Throw the angsty main character away
- Include a radio station where you only hear funny conversations
The talk stations definately need more variety. It's the first thing I listen to in game and it soon gets old, especially if the music sucks. No reason why they can't update them with FREE!! DLC.

Set it in Japan. IT would be amazing to move away from westan culture and move it to the east would be quite fun to see the change in contrast.
Thst would be GREAT!!! people would have more sense there would be diferent plots, sttings, different cars. Things would be great!!!!!!!!

Another great feture would being able to pick whether your a male or female because then they could go a different direction in each but make them tie together so either way you make them interact
